D.J. Swearinger to be cut or traded by Texans

Plays too out of control and is more of a hitting safety (ended Dustin Keller's career) than coverage safety. O'Brien doesn't like his fit in the locker or class room. Too reckless....I hope Mac gives him a shot. He's a true SS.

If Bill O'Brien does not like him, that's good enough for me. We have Pryor switching to SS finally, and have Allen as our back-up SS. I am seeing Red Flags here, no thanks.

A source tells KPRC-TV in Houston that D.J. Swearinger was waived because he refused to play special teams.
KPRC-TV is not a typical outlet for breaking news, but this makes sense. Swearinger was always a hot head on and off the field, which made him a poor fit for the culture Bill Belichick disciple Bill O'Brien is trying to build. An unwillingness to help on special teams when you're struggling as a safety is not acceptable for O'Brien.

The Bucs reportedly "really like" waived SS D.J. Swearinger.
Claims for waivers are due by 4pm ET on Tuesday. The Bucs have the No. 1 priority and they're at least considering it. Swearinger, the No. 57 overall pick in 2013, would at least bring natural talent to a secondary that ranked 28th in pass yards allowed per game last year. The Falcons, holders of the No. 8 waiver priority, are also rumored to have interest.

I liked him coming out of college, but IMHO, he obviously became a headcase. No Thanks, good luck in Tampa.

I like what we have here, plus Bowles is playing the Louisville slugger at his natural position, not Free safety as our old nutcase head coach had him playing. Ditto for Coples, i'am more than sure our current Head coach will position him to succeed instead of playing out of position.

Agree on all points. I was a swearinger fan, but I am a bigger bill Obrien fan. Like Cy said, if Obrien doesn't want him, I don't either. Obrien is one of the great football minds in the game, IMO, and determined he's not his type of player. He shouldn't be ours either then.

Let him room with Winston. They can accumulate these types of people with little respect and regard for their craft and profession.
