well then maybe kraft wouldn't be as opposed to going to court if it comes down to it.
No. Not all federal trials are in DC. It would go to a US District court. Boston, Worcester, Springfield...I think Providence.
Agreed. That's why I think he never had any intention of going to court.
If it remains four games, Brady's legacy is destroyed. If the suspension is eliminated, Goodell's legacy is destroyed. The problem is, to justify dropping it from 4 to 2 games (and save face for both), there needs to be a compelling reason. Unless Brady hands over his records, what is that reason?
I've always agreed with four games, but as an end game. The league should have lessened the draft pick penalties and given Brady eight games. This way, cut it to four on appeal, and everyone saves at least a small level of dignity. Two games for what Brady did is an outrage, but it seems like it's the only reasonable solution now.
league head office is in NY, so my assumption is it would be a NY based court.
in any event, odds are unless he gets a stay putting the suspension on hold pending the appeal, the process would take so long to drag out that it's not likely the court case would be heard and decided before the 4 week suspension is due to lapse. so on principle he could go to court...i'm not sure if it will be able to act in time from preventing him from missing the 4 games.

This how I see it: Goodell will not eliminate the suspension completely, to do so would be a total capitulation, destroy his credibility and vastly undermine his power in the future.
If he leaves everything as is, he might wind up in court - something he probably does not want.
If he reduces the suspension to less than 4 games, he might wind up in court anyway.
The point is this: Brady doesn't care about the money, he cares about his legacy. If he winds up with even a one game supension, his legacy is still tainted. Especially considering that Kraft accepted the team component of the sanctions.
Therefore, I think brady wants the suspension eliminated: anything less still paints him as guilty.
If he has no punishment himself, he can make the case (in the court of public opinion) that the tampering was done without his knowledge - and that is why the team was punished and not he.
Kraft can't go to the Hall of Fame. He isn't the public celebrity that Brady is. The taint of cheating has far fewer implications for Kraft than it does for Brady.
The reason Kraft and his lawyers accepted the sanctions was to give Goodell a face-saving element in any decision he might make to let brady completlely off the hook.
The article I posted the link to said if the suspension was put on hold it would be served later in the year rather than the first 4 games. That was a reason given for why going to court might not be pursued.
It'd be dumb in my opinion for them to delay. It's probably in their interest to just lose him for the first four rather than any games past the first month.
Lol,what! He threatens to sue the league for defamation of character. League does not want this in court where evidence/testimony would be made public. So they agree to compromise. 2 games.

"If [suspension] goes down to two games he will continue to fight.” - Jim Gray. Remember Gray knows Brady well. Work together at Westwood 1.
If Brady gets the suspension completely eliminated without turning over his records, it is an OUTRAGE!
He turns over his records, and those records clear him? Fine. I will live with the facts determining the lack of punishment.
But if he withholds evidence and STILL gets the sentence waived, 31 other owners better have a hell of a lot to say about that Commish.
He's still in the meeting. Wow.
