Not to derail the thread, but the title made me think of the following question:

Which would we prefer -- that the Patriots stay on top until WE knock them down, or that they get knocked down regardless of who does it?

I know the emotional answer is probably the latter, but that would mean there's a new team we're chasing. I gotta believe the Pats domination is nearing an end, so I actually don't fear them as much as fearing another team rising to power the same time we (hopefully) are.

I know -- pointless question, but what else do we have on a Thursday afternoon in early June?

(And hopefully the question will be irrelevant by late December when we're enjoying our first AFCE title in over a decade . . .)

The Pats still have Brady, albeit, maybe minus 4 games if it doesn't get reduced. He has always tipped the scales regardless of what anyone in the AFC East has done.. With that said they are a bit weaker this year, especially with the rest of the division really improving. Still the ones to beat...

...like the Bills? I know some believe rex is so incompetent there is no chance, but his defensive unit is stacked...Pettine had them top 10 and so will he. Their oline is the best in the division, their WR group is very young and good, and their RBs go McCoy, Jackson, and Bryce Brown and like us, just a Qb away...to me, it's a race to the top...because as you said, the Pats are on their way down.

I think a team not named the pats win the division this year, whichever coaching staff hides - Jets - QB and OL, Bills - QB, and Miami - OL better likely takes them, because the Pats have the worst defense in the division, middle of the pack oline, and terrible skill positions (even worse than before with all the RBs leaving)..wont be shocked if they're a 9-7, 10-6 team. The question is, which teams passes them...and I think its anyone's guess.

agreed, but I think they are the most vulnerable this year, IMO.

When I first saw this I felt same way..but...to be fair or consistent......I dont think what anyone does in OTA's...'good or bad,....Jets or NON-Jets is consequential ..if he was perfect would it matter..just like if Geno struggles or not in OTA's....just saying

I wonder if Pats fans/players are used to their practice stats be charted and nationally reported like ours. I doubt if Brady has a bad practice the needle moves much in New England.

Yeah, but who in the Pats secondary is picking off 5 balls? MCCourty couldn't have all 5. Garrapolo has no deep ball, but neither does Brady, so you would think his quick release and quick decisions on medium/short passes would fit their system perfectly.

But best in the division. Sirius rated then best too, but like you, agreed no one in the AFC had better than a 'B' grade oline, and Bills for a B and Pats got a B- as the top2.

I heard Garoppolo is Canton-bound, and the team won't miss a beat when Brady retires.

Just like Cassel, Hoyer, and Mallett were.

i think brady's suspension gets knocked down to two games, i don't see it sticking to four games. the pats will survive 2-4 games without him.

the pats are still the team to beat in our division, but everyone has stepped up their game so far this offseason, and these teams are hungry. let's just hope that when brady does retire, they don't have an aaron rodgers or andrew luck waiting to replace him.

Malcolm Butler - DB - Patriots
Patriots CB Malcolm Butler was "benched" for the first three weeks of OTAs after arriving late to day one of the offseason program.
Butler tried to fly in a day before OTAs opened, but saw his flight pushed back due to weather. As a result, he was late to day one of OTAs and subsequently punished for his mishap. He's expected to return to the field later this week and participate in next week's minicamp. Butler is in the mix to start outside in 2015.

Did he contact the team before the start of the first OTA, explaining the situation? If he did, then this is too far to the opposite extreme of Club Rex.

Time for another investigation by the league and the NFLPA into this direct violation of the CBA re OTAs being VOLUNTARY

More fines and maybe another forfeiture would be appropriate
