Pats are in trouble

It's hard to know how much weight you cane give something like this. But a few things are clear right now:

Garrapolo played HORRIBLY and he would most certainly cost the Patsies games if he plays that way during the regular season. He 5 picks against that defense? Or specifically, THAT secondary?

I'm sorry but that secondary SUCKS. I can just imagine how many picks he would have thrown against Revis and Cro? 10 picks?

Time for another investigation by the league and the NFLPA into this direct violation of the CBA re OTAs being VOLUNTARY

More fines and maybe another forfeiture would be appropriate

depends what he missed.

most of the OTAs (organized training activities) are indeed voluntary. these are what mo wilkerson skipped for the jets. teams also are allowed 1 set on mandatory workouts (minicamp), which the jets are conducting this week and apparently the pats will have next week.

so unless i'm mis-reading the situation, what butler missed was a voluntary OTA, not a mandatory minicamp

See my post above, hobson. It was the voluntary OTAs, not the mandatory minicamp. In his eagerness to personally attack sg3 again, grogan is 100% wrong in this.

Was, from what I remember, a key piece in the Mankins deal
Connor Hughes added,
David Wyatt @DavidWyattNFLPatriots released Tim Wright, that's a strange one, 5 TD's as a rookie in 2013, 6 TD's as a 2nd year guy last year. A few teams will bite.

So they basically gave away Logan Mankins for nothing, but once again Belichick the coach overcomes the colossal blunders of Belichick the GM and wins the SB in spite of himself. If any other GM operated the way Belichick does, the fans would be hanging and burning his likeness in effigy. There would be "FIRE THIS IDIOT" banners flying over Gillette.

Pats fans aren't die-hard enough to do that. When the Pats are bad, all the fans do is check off the days on the calendar from when the Sox are eliminated to the day when pitchers and catchers report.

Oh I know that, and I don't even mean they should do that with Belichick, THEY CAN'T because if you fire Belichick the GM, Belichick the HC is out the door with him. I'm just pointing out how lucky they are to have a HC who can overcome the stupidity of their GM, and how ironically its the same guy.

They had the #1 pick in the draft...not sure there was much to laugh about in Tampa recently outside of their record...

And people will STILL say how great a deal it was for the Pats.

It all boils down to 4th rd pick Trey Flowers De Arkansas, the player they took with the draft pick they landed for him: Pass rushing 3-4 OLB

OVERVIEW
Selected second-team All-SEC in 2014 and 2013. Started every game in 2014 and led team in tackles for loss (15.5) and sacks (6). Missed one game in 2013 with a knee injury. Recorded five sacks that season. Started every game in 2012 and played in every game as a freshman in 2011. Selected to SEC All-Freshman Team. Two-time All-State selection in football and also played basketball in high school.

PRO DAY RESULTS

40-yard dash: 4.83 and 4.87 seconds
Vertical jump: 36 1/2 inches

ANALYSIS

STRENGTHS High-motor power end. Uses stab move effectively and is continuing to grow as a pass rusher. Consistent with hand placement and is technically sound. Stacks and sheds in run game. Had a strong game against Texas A&M tackle Cedric Ogbuehi. Good student. Doesn't look like much athletically, but finds his way to the ball against the run.

WEAKNESSES Not a quick-twitch athlete. Below-average burst off the snap and and won't win around the corner very much in pass rush. Not yet advanced enough as a pass rusher to be able to consistently pressure the passer. Nothing special about ability to close on the ball. Limited scheme fit.

DRAFT PROJECTION Round 3

NFL COMPARISON Adrian Clayborn

BOTTOM LINE While he might have room on his frame to add more bulk, he's not as long as most 3-4 teams would like at defensive end. His aggressiveness at the point of attack is a plus, but he might have to come off the field on third downs. Limited athletic traits might affect his draft stock.

I guess that explains this move from earlier today:

Flynn is the best possible UFA they could have fitted to their system. He'll do extremely well with it as a game manager.
