Flynn is the best possible UFA they could have fitted to their system. He'll do extremely well with it as a game manager.

What do you think about him vs the Bills defense week 2?

What do you think about him vs the Bills defense week 2?
As well ask yourself that question, as even Packers fans really haven't seen enough of him in actual games to predict with certainty.

Flynn has only started 7 games in his 7 year career, though he came within a 4 point whisker of beating NE in 2010 and led the entire game until halfway through the 4th quarter.
He destroyed DET in 2011, throwing for 480 yards & 6 TDs - both GBP records at the time.
Whenever he was called upon to start, even in losing efforts, he delivered enough that you couldn't blame the loss on him.

He's VERY smart, and he has a little bit of Favre to his game, but he just doesn't have the arm.
Then again, neither does Brady, which is why NE's system - designed around that fact - is such a good fit for Flynn.
Still, how many QBs have you heard of that have both a college national championship title, (LSU), & a Super Bowl ring, (GBP), on their résumé?

The answer to that question is, incidentally;
6 Quarterbacks have a National Championship and a Super Bowl win.
Only 3, Namath, Montana, & Stabler, actually were starters for both.
Stabler's case would make him the only one with TWO National Championships, but things got complicated in 1966.

Joe Namath-Starter in 1964 with Alabama, Won 1 SB

Ken Stabler-Bench in 1964 with Alabama and Starter in 1965 with Alabama, Won 1 SB
In 1966 Stabler was the starter and guided the team to a perfect 11-0 record.
However, Notre Dame was awarded the championship although they finished the season with a tie on their record.
The 1966 undefeated Alabama team was known as the "uncrowned champions".

Joe Montana-Starter in 1977 with Notre Dame, Won 4 SB's

Troy Aikman-Benched with injury in 1985 with Oklahoma, Won 3 SB's

Tom Brady-Bench in 1997 with Michigan (co-champs), Won 4 SB's

Matt Flynn was the starter for LSU in 2007 but received his SB ring as a backup in 2010.

Incomplete list of players, including QBs, who have both on their résumé.

The Pats likely signed Flynn to carry the clipboard behind Garrapolo during the Brady suspension. I think he is going to be nothing more than an experienced back-up during the first month of the season, unless Garrapolo blows the opportunity in TC/PS.

Maybe

What I find interesting is that their idiot GM didn't make any move in the 6 weeks or so since Cheating Tammi ' s punishment was announced. IMO, he was so certain that Jimmie Crappola was the answer, ergo no move was necessary.

Now, apparently after seeing Jimmie stink up the joint in OTAs, he makes a panic move to bring in a guy who wasn't even in the NFL last season and who has failed in Green Bay twice, Seattle, Oakland and Buffalo

Such a move says only one thing IMO.

Jimmie, like Hoyer and Mallet before him is not the "next Tammi" despite the thousands of assurances from delusional Pat fan chowdahheads

And so they go into 2015 with an increasingly immobile nearly 40 year old QB and no viable heir apparent

Not to mention the significant defensive and running back downgrade this offseason, not being able to cheat with the footballs anymore coupled with the improvement of the Dolphins and Jets personnel

A battle with Rex for third place is probable

I hope you are right SG3, I hope you are right.

But, I have read numerous eulogies for the Pats on these boards -- well maybe not these exact boards -- but various Jet boards. And every time, they seem to find a way to overcome it, maybe not always a legal way, but they overcome it.

Their reign over our Division was supposed to have ended when we went into Foxboro in the playoffs and kicked their 14-2 butts in 2010, but it didn't.

It was supposed to end the next year when they lost consecutive games to Pitt & NYG and were heading into Jersey to meet the Jets. Both teams 6-3. They would not lose another game until the SB while we imploded down the stretch.

They were in trouble the next season after a 3-3 start. They were in trouble last year after being crushed by KC. And they are in trouble again now. I have been watching them too long to dance on their graves just yet.

I hope you are right SG3, yes I hope you are right.

But I won't believe it in until December.

Maybe they can pick up an heir apparent QB using their 1st-round draft pick next year.

Oh, wait...

Malcolm Butler saved Belichick from clock management blunder in SB. He thanks him by benching him in OTAs. Comical. http://nydn.us/1BdXOuz

The Commissioner of the NFL had the golden chance to destroy this Satanic nest of vipers when the FACT that they had been cheating for 8 seasons and 3 ***superbowls*** was proven with video evidence.

He could have directed the proper punishments commensurate with these years of serial crime

1. Forfeits of ALL wins, regular and postseason from 2000 to 2008.

2. Awarding of the three championships to the Rams, Panthers and Eagles who deserved them

3. Bill Belichick banned for life from the NFL and HOF consideration

4. Robert Kraft removed as an owner and required to sell the team to an owner acceptable to the Commissioner within 12 months. If not done, the NFL would assume ownership and find a new owner

5. Tom Brady banned for 2 years

6. First and second round picks forfeited for 3 seasons

Instead Commissioner Gutless gave the Satanic franchise a slap on the wrist and destroyed the evidence

And shockingly the nest of vipers was found cheating again in 2014

What bothered me the most about the Spygate ruling is that the league handed down its punishment before ever visiting the Patriots' facility.

And then, when they did go to Foxboro, they found all this additional evidence, evidence that was so bad it had to be destroyed. Yet, the league did not increase the penalties.

It's like arresting a bank robber for one robbery, sentencing him to ten years, then finding all these other bank robberies they had committed, but deciding they had been punished enough for the one robbery.
