INSIDE THE CLASS RANKINGS
While the Sunshine State remains home to the nation's top two classes in Florida State and Miami, respectively, the top five did undergo a shake-up.
On the recruiting trail, Georgia continues to heat up along with the temperature. With the addition of five-star defensive tackle Julian Rochester, the Bulldogs climbed to No. 3 in the rankings. Rochester is an impact defensive lineman with a nice combination of size, strength and athleticism.
Penn State secured a big in-state commitment as well with a verbal from No. 2 OG Michal Menet and moved up to No. 7.
TCU is back in the rankings after the Horned Frogs landed their fifth ESPN 300 prospect with a verbal from RB Trayveon Williams, a quick and elusive runner. -- Craig Haubert

After Hack is drafted from PSU next year, this is going to be the kid to step in for him.

http://pennstate.247sports.com/Bolt/Zembiec-excited-to-compete-at-Elite-11-37591357

Over the weekend in Columbus, Penn State quarterback commit Jake Zembiec was among the top throwers at the Nike Opening Regional, and from that he earned an invite to the Elite 11 semifinals in Los Angeles. He’ll get on a plane from New York on Thursday and make the trip to the West Coast for the two-day event.

It’s a quick turnaround for the four-star prospect, but one that he is hoping to use as both a showcase of his abilities and a learning experience.

“My goal at this Elite 11 is not only to make it to the finals, but leave with more knowledge then I came with in order to prepare me better for the next level,” he said. “I'm excited to compete and watch the true QB come out in everyone, but even more so I'm excited to hangout with a great group of guys.”

Eight quarterbacks have already been selected for the finals, which are to be held at The Opening in July. Zembiec is hoping to land one of the 10 remaining spots and punch his ticket to Oregon.

He’s also planning on representing his future school while in California.

“Representing Penn State is just a great feeling,” he said. “I know all of the alumni are eager for me to succeed and it’s great to be able to represent an East Coast school while I’m out west.”

Zembiec missed much of his junior season with a broken wrist. As a sophomore, he was the Class AA state Player of the Year in New York, leading Aquinas to a 13-0 record and a state title while throwing for 1,932 yards and 26 touchdowns.

He is the No. 14 pro-style quarterback prospect in the country according to the 247Sports Composite rankings and is the No. 1 prospect in New York.

Hey _ i havent read much from harbough recruiting, have you? Surprised he hasnt pulled a haul in this year.

got to keep in mind, he's just making the connections with players and coaches. as i'm sure you know, recruiting is based a lot on long-term relationship, and he's been in the pros the last few years.

but he's already starting to put together a nice class, which should see some additions the next few months. he's commencing the summer camp national tour this week and will be at something like 10 camps in 9 states over the coming weeks.

but i think for a lot of the top players, it will take till the fall since they are gonna want to see the team play. we are coming off a number of terrible seasons. win and the recruits will follow

we are one of, if not THE leaders for rashan gary, the #1 player in the country according to scout (DT out of NJ). we've added scouts' # 11 OT, #5 guard, # 15 QB, #7 RB, so it's a nice start. obviously not at the level yet need to compete with urban meyer, and MSU is putting together a very strong class this year. but if/when harbaugh starts winning, i think top notch recruits will start giving us a more serious look

I thought you would land some transfers wanting to get a head to start on his pro style systems setting them up for NFL scouting. I agree on the long process, building relationships, etc, etc. I just didnt know if there was a big name or two he got to change their mind hoping to help him with the turnaround. I just hadnt seen any major reports. PSU landed a lot of players from Florida this year, and a couple from CA. I love Paterno, still do, but changing regimes has extended our recruiting ability out of PA, Ohio , NJ, NY, VA, new england, and MD. Its been a while since we were locked in the top 10 of recruiting. We landed a local kid at the #2 OG in the nation last week. We needed him! Praying our oline gets better. We're going to lose a lot of players after this year though.

also, WOTS (michigan premium board) is that there are at least 2 other "silent" commits (possibly both 4* - one thought to be the # 10 OT)

and kingston davis, who on my above link is shown as a 3* RB, has offers from alabama, lsu, florida and fsu, so i think the rankings may be a little off

they got a bunch of transfers coming in. our eventual starting QB this year was a 5th year transfer (no need to sit) coming from iowa. also got a 5th year safety/cb out of stanford. also john o'korn (QB) is transferring from houston (where he started as a freshman) to michigan (2 years of eligibility left). and i think they are trying to get a safety from auburn who wants to transfer (question if he can get into michigan since he started at a JUCO and michigan usually doesn't accept JUCO transcripts). there may also be a WR transfer coming in (5th year), but i can't find info on him.

Okay. I obviously don't follow Michigan, but I read the headlines when they come across ESPN and just hadnt caught any of these. Thanks for the details.

personally, i find espn is not that good at following recruiting. i much prefer scout's rankings over espn's. not sure if you read/post on the PSU's scout site (i assume they have a free board as well as premium). i subscribe to the premium michigan site, which is the only subscription i've ever paid for on the old scout network.

never paid for it. i think willie (tvoman) hooked me up for free insider stuff as a mod which i seemed to have for a while. but no, i never paid for any scout site other than michigan (which i've paid for a number of years). and if i didn't get the free insider stuff on scout, i would not have paid for it.

Incoming Freshman QB class Elite 11 Workout Results:

247Sport Top 11
1. Feleipe Franks (LSU commit) – Franks has the best frame of any quarterback in attendance with length and broad shoulders. While he can be stiff at times, he's extremely athletic and has a huge arm. He made some of the day's best individual throws.

2. Dwayne Haskins (Maryland commit) – Haskins was extremely consistent and just as he's shown on film, there may not be a better pure thrower in the class. The ball jumps out of his hand.

3. Brandon Peters (Michigan commit) – A lot of quarterbacks look mechanical or tight when trying to accomplish some of the movements the Elite 11 staff asks of them. Not Peters. Everything is fluid, smooth and easy. He was consistent and I loved the way he delivers the football.

4. Shea Patterson (Ole Miss commit) – Patterson showed up a little bit late due to Ole Miss obligation on Friday night but came out firing. Patterson has one of the quicker releases of any quarterback, can generate velocity on off-platform throws and definitely looked like one of the elite arms in attendance.

5. Jalen Hurts (Alabama commit) – Hurts can do some things athletically that not many quarterbacks are capable of outside of the pocket because of his arm strength and body control. Inside of the pocket he has some great tools too though, particularly a high release and a balanced strong base.

6. Jacob Eason (Georgia commit) – Eason was one of the guys that looked like he was pressing early in the day but he settled in and quickly looked like the No. 1 QB in the country. Eason was best inside the pocket and his size, arm strength and quick release are all elite.

7. Jarrett Guarantano (Tennessee commit) – Guarantano was one of the quarterbacks that had the most "wow" moments. "Who was that?" type of throws. He flashes upside that not many prospects possess.

8. Jake Zembiec (Penn State commit) – Zembiec was just sound and consistent throughout the morning. He does everything well, has good size, good movement skills and has leadership qualities about him.

9. Shane Buechele (Texas commit) – Buechele is not a big kid in terms of height or strength but he is accurate. He may be the most accurate kid in attendance through the first workout.

10. D'Eriq King (TCU commit) – The 5-9 King may have been the best player on the field during the first half of practice but the second hour of work he wasn't a top 11 guy. He just started to wear down it looked like but his good was good enough that he needs to be listed.

11. Malik Henry (Florida State commit) – Henry just quietly went about his business in the morning session. He was steady, made some big time throws and was right there on that Top 11 fringe throughout the day.

http://www.campussports.net/ezekiel-elliott-to-be-featured-on-espns-e60/

Ohio State Buckeyes running back Ezekiel Elliott burst onto the scene in 2014 as one of the top running backs in the nation and now he enters 2015 as the Heisman Trophy favorite.

Elliott, who is entering his junior year, has over 2,000 rushing yards in his Buckeyes career. However, an incredible 1,878 of those yards came during his sophomore campaign as he helped to lead Ohio State to a national championship.

The St. Louis native found his way to Ohio State as a four-star recruit out of John Burroughs School in Missouri where he was a three-sport athlete.

As it turns out, Elliott had such an interesting rise to stardom that it appears he could be the focus of an upcoming “E:60″ documentary on ESPN. The following tweet surfaced over the weekend to give those rumors some life.

ESPN has yet to comment on a potential E:60 featuring Elliott, but if the documentary does come to fruition it will be something that college football fans will not want to miss.

All I know is the Big 10 won the national championship and the ACC got waxed 55 to not much against the no defense playing pac-12. Right now Big 10, Sec, pac-12, and everyone else... I like the new playoff system so there aren't any more excuses.
