Recently we discussed how far the Jets have come at WR from only two years ago when it was beyond pathetic, so I thought it might be interesting to ranking the WR Corps and see where the Jets currently reside?

While some teams go deeper than others with quality WR's, I decided to stop at each teams TOP 4:

  1. GREEN BAY PACKERS (Jordy Nelson, Randall Cobb, DaVante Adams, Ty Montgomery)
  2. DENVER BRONCOS (Demaryius Thomas, Emmanuel Sanders, Cody Latimer, Andre Caldwell)
  3. DETROIT LIONS (Calvin Johnson, Golden Tate, Lance Moore, Corey Fuller)
  4. TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS (Mike Evans, Vincent Jackson, Louis Murphy, Kenny Bell)
  5. PITTSBURGH STEELERS (Antonio Brown, Martavis Bryant, Markus Wheaton, Sammie Coates)
  6. INDIANAPOLIS COLTS (TY Hilton, Andre Johnson, Donte Moncrief, Phillip Dorsett)
  7. DALLAS COWBOYS (Dez Bryant, Terrance Williams, Cole Beasley, Antwan Goodley)
  8. CHICAGO BEARS (Alshon Jeffery, Kevin White, Eddie Royal, Marquess Wilson)
  9. NEW YORK GIANTS (Odell Beckham, Victor Cruz, Reuben Randle, Preston Parker)
  10. ARIZONA CARDINALS (Larry Fitzgerald, Michael Floyd, John Brown, Jaron Brown)
  11. CINCINNATI BENGALS (AJ Green, Marvin Jones, Mohamed Sanu, Denarius Moore)
  12. NEW YORK JETS (Brandon Marshall, Eric Decker, Devin Smith, Jeremy Kerley)
  13. BUFFALO BILLS (Sammy Watkins, Percy Harvin, Robert Woods, Chris Hogan)
  14. ATLANTA FALCONS (Julio Jones, Roddy White, Leonard Hankerson, Devin Hester)

The Jets are way better than recent history. That goes without saying and from a talent standpoint I agree with the ranking as well.

However, this will all appear much worse come the regular season. Our QB stinks and therefore he is going to drag down the entire offense.

It's one thing to have great talent to throw the ball to and it is something entirely different to have a great QB hooking up with great receiver talent.

Don't agree with a few of those. If Jordy Nelson and co. had a poor QB their whole careers, they'd be bottom 10

Agree with the Lions. How are the Bears 4 with an unproven player as a no. 2 WR?

I would takeour WRs over Raiders, Bengals, and Cards.

Bears WRs depend a lot on whites development.

Colts WRs are going to be special.

nice attempt, but i think you are giving a little too much credit to rookies who have yet to take a snap in the nfl.

the bears have 1 proven WR, a very talented rookie, and 2 JAGs - no way they are 4 at this point. the raiders at 8 is crazy at this juncture - crabtree could only garner a 1-year deal as a FA, he's very pedestrian. so you have a rookie and 3 ???, that's not top 10 until proven otherwise.

denver should be higher - top 3 in my book. you have a superstar in thomas, and an excellent #2 in sanders (perhaps its the peyton manning effect, but he was huge last year). i would have atlanta a bit higher based on jones and white, although white seems to be slipping.

as to the jets, it's amazing how far this unit has come from 2 years ago. i think your slotting is pretty good on them. of course, and this applies to pretty much every team, you need the QB to get them the ball.

Corey Latimer WR Indiana 2nd year player for the broncos will be a star and another huge missed wr from the 2014 class for us. Manning is going to make him look like Andre Johnson. The broncos WRs are going to be awesome.

JMO The Raiders wr corps is better than the Jets. ( have way better Qb than the Jets- skill positions still depended on the Qb getting them the football) Brice Butler would be the fourth Wr as Andre Holmes might not even make there roster. All four of the Raiders top Wr's can play any Wr position .( can line up anywhere)

Derek Carr was 6 out of seven against D Revis last year going to a poor man Michael Crabtree( James Jones- illustrate doesn't matter the coverage if the Qb can put it where he has to).

Are there positions where the Jets have a better group than the Raiders? Or is that just outlandish?

I don't understand why people are referencing the QB in a WR debate. Of course the QB determines the WR's overall stats, but not ability/talent level.

IMO this list should be made under the assumption they ALL have Rodgers as their QB (or all have Geno, it's irrelevant).

Under that scenario, I agree Jets should be middle of the pack. They have some age/injury issues, and their speed threat hasn't played a down yet.

Having said that, it's amazing we can even claim "middle of the pack" when Greg Salas was a potential savior not that long ago . . .

Mid-pack. Probably top half, but barely. 13 seems like a fair place for them.

Because a big part of the argument will be about the numbers they have put up

I get it, but you could get certain numbers with Geno and you'd be called an All-Star, where if you got the same numbers with Peyton you'd be called a disappointment . . .

Marshall and Decker are better than any receiver on your roster right now...and dont talk to me about Cooper, you have no idea if he's Beckham or Peter Warrick right now.

If you want to try and convince me Micharl Crabtree belongs in a conversation with Decker and Marshall, well, you're getting too much sun in California...teams want Marshall and Decker, no one wanted Crabtree, that's why he's a raider...he couldnt get better money any place else. No shot on the raiders, that's how it played out. He begged the phins to pay him, they said no.

the conversation has nothing to do with QBs, so everything you said about Carr could be replaced with the name Kate Upton...it's just as relevant.

If Butler and Holmes were so good, why did you go get Crabtree and Cooper?

Devin Smith is as good as those 2 right now...plus we have Marshall and Decker, both far superior than anyone you have right now...minus cooper, who is a big question mark. For all anyone knows, Devin Smith may be better than Cooper. Likely? No. But we dont know anything about rookies, so they cant be factored in.

I know if I had to choose between Crabtree, Butler, and Holmes or Marshall, Decker, and Kerley....pft, its a no brainer.

I'm happy with what we have done with our WR's in last two years. Two proven veterans with a speedy rookie and throw in Kerley and that is the best we have had in many, many years.

Good feedback, Hobson, I haven't read past this post yet, but you changed my mind on Chicago and Oakland. It did put a little too much weight on rookies because they are rookies I was really high on, but I did over rank them so I made a few edits and dropped them below some stronger and more proven WR corps.

Agreed, I really wanted the Jets to draft Latimer.

That also convinced me that I went too low on Denver, they should be 1 or 2
