THe fact is Michael Crabtree outside of nine route ( below average) all his other routes he ran in 2014 were above average to excellent.( will find the article that illustrates that point). He has good chance to be NFL comeback player because where Colin Krapernick waits till the Wr is open, Derek Carr will throw the Wr open. AMari Cooper and Michael Crabtree give Carr two great route runners.
Amari Cooper isn't a rookie because he well develop beyond his years- everyone knew he was going to make impact early because he was the most NFL ready. THE TALK FROM raider camp is he is the real deal.( impressive player in everything he does). Rod streater 6 '3 200 sub 4.4 was the Raiders number 1 Wr who missed most of last year to injury. He now gets the third cb.
ANDRE Holmes 6'4 225 4.5 sucks who is a one trick pony- uses his size to win jump ball on nine route.( that his only game). kris Durham 6'6 215 has better chance to fill the Holmes role( red zone) as he can run a lot more routes.
BRICE butler is 6'3 215 Wr with 4.36 40 inch vertical rubs good routes and has very good hands. Why the Raider's didn't feature him , is the same reason why it took the Raiders to give Latavius Murray a chance to carry the rock.( last year coaching staff wasn't that great)
To say it doesn't matter what you have at Qb judging your wr corp is silly. Ask Larry Fitzgerald what it meant to lose Kurt Warner.
btw Brandon Marshall was a number 1 wr type for a longtime. The question is he a number 1 Wr type in 2015- just because he has big name recognition , doesn't mean he is that player anymore.

I like my list better than there's. That list is a-typical of most people who cover the sport, for example automatically overrating the Patriots and underrating the Jets. How is the Patriots WR corp in the TOP 10 (9) and the Jets 25? I'm not sure which of the two is more absurd. The opposite is true, the Pats are closer to 25 and the Jets closer to 10.
Holy shit. You really are a raiders fan. When you don't care about production, and you only care about their height and 40 time, and you weigh their height and 40 time over production; well, you're a raiders fan.
They are bigger and faster than Antonio brown, and play for the raiders, so they're better than Antonio brown.
We will end the conversation there when you say some bum who might not make your team is better than Brandon Marshall because he is taller and faster.
Also, the conversation is about best WRs regardless of QB...that's the point.

jmo How can you rate a Wr as the best without the numbers. All Wr are going to be judged by the numbers they put up next season. (Fact) YES Brandon Marshall is a big name Wr, but he's coming off a sub par season by his standard, playing with a way better Qb.
That's like trying to make a case a person the best at his position ,without the numbers to back it up.( how are you making that determination)
Larry Fitzgerald was the top wr in the NFL a long time without the numbers.

listen don't get upset as we're only debating this topic.Your point , I don't care about production, but who wants to judge a Wr without taking who there Qb is in account. HOw is that wr going to produce if the Qb can't get the ball to him.
Never said Andre Holmes was better than Brandon Marshall( I said Holmes sucks). SHOW ME WHERE I MADE THAT STATEMENT YOU CLAIMED I made. The point I made was Crabtree graded out very well last year in all the routes except the nine route. ( he wasn't hurt by playing in a run first offense, and Crapernick as his Qb.
Why did the Bears trade a number 1 Wr for a fifth rounder?
I'm just following the thread topic, sir. Clayton and Duper had the best stats in the NFL for awhile w/o being the leagues best WRs.
how can you say that about marshall yet rave about michael crabtree
marshall (in a "down" year) - 61 receptions, 721 yds, 8 TDs (13 games)
crabtree - 68 receptions, 698 yards, 4 TDs (16 games)
You can only tell how good they are by their 40. Who runs a better 40?
why couldn't crabtree garner more than a 1-year, $3 million contract as an unrestricted free agent?

Sure let me ask you a couple of questions . what are the 49ers predominantly a running team or a passing team? The 49ers were the 30th passing offense in football for a reason.( threw the ball fewer times than most teams) Now which team had the better Qb the Bears or the 49ers. What was Crabtree the first or third option in the 49ers passing offense . Now what was Brandon Marshall the first option in the Bears passing offense?
Again I will find the article where it shows that outside of nine route , every other routeM Crabtree ran in 2014 was above average to excellent.
Those numbers B MArshall put up aren't number 1 caliber with a better Qb , he won't have with the Jets. Raiders drafted their number 1 Wr Amari Cooper ( who everyone knew was game ready from day one- because he can run a full route tree, and isn't your normal rookie wr.

Again sometimes players perceived reputation whether it's true or not , plays a hand in teams leery of signing such a player. Hey if M Crabtree wins comeback player of the year, that kind of contract will look like a steal.

In the most important game NFC Championship the 49ers threw the football to their best Wr, and one of the top Cb made a play to win the game. No shame in that. ( really reaching now)
sure, if he wins comeback player of the year, it will be a steal.
but the fact remains that 32 teams could have signed him. in an off-season where dwayne bowe got 2 yrs, $12MM, kenny britt got 2 yrs, $9MM, cecil shorts got 2 yrs, $6MM, brian hartline got 2 yrs, $6MM, eddie royal got 3 yrs, $15MM, ted ginn got 2 yrs, $4MM, and jacoby jones got 2 yrs, $5.5MM, that the best that this "#1 WR" in crabtree could land was a 1 yr deal for $3MM. i could also add the big dollar deals that maclin, cobb, torrey smith and andre johnson got, and that dez bryant and d thomas were tagged and never got to the market.
maybe the raiders will hit gold. but right now, the market reflects the thinking of 32 nfl teams, and 31 teams passed on him, leaving him to take a 1 year deal.
How much demand was there for Crabtree on the open market? I'm not reaching......... he got a one year prove it deal. He's not this hot commodity that you're trying to make him out to be. He'll be the 2015 version of James Jones for your team. Nothing wrong with that.

No you can put all the Wr in the NFL in a hat, and the one you pull out is the best. You can't hold a Wr accountable because his Qb isn't that good, who cares about judging a wr by the numbers he puts up. I'm sorry but that how every sports judges it top players, is by the numbers they put up. That like Steve Young didn't look as good in Tampa Bay, as he did with the 49ers. ( it's not fair he didn't have the oline in Tampa Bay, he had with 49ers.( that little difference is why he went on to be a hall of fame Qb.
