Jets finally appear to be on right flight path

I think Mac has done a good job of restocking the roster - at almost every position. something we weren't used to seeing between Tanny and Idzik. Kind of early to say a whole lot about Bowles except that I like his style - He believes in actions, not words; He's not worrying about anything else but his team - including the press/public's perception of him. As others have said, there is now a sense of accountability in the building that most of us were screaming for over the past couple of years.

Buffalo is very similar to us: A strong roster (maybe better than ours), built on defense, questions at QB. One difference between Rex here and Rex up there is that it seems like he has found an OC that truly buys in to the ground and pound philosophy. Their starting center said on the Opening Drive, that he has never seen a more run-centric play package than the one they have put in this year. Make no mistake, they will be a tough out, but, in the end, I believe that history will repeat itself - Rex will ignore the offense and that will be his demise, AGAIN.

That won't happen here. Bowles is smart and he understands the concept of a HEAD coach.

I personally do not miss Rex as he talked the talk, but didn't walk the walk. I believe that Bowles walks the walk, but without the talk. AND I LOVE IT!

(And thanks 55 for posting this article).

No problem...and the rex time was over here. I think even the media was sick of him by the end, and that's saying something.

It is a gamble that we will have to wait and see how it pays off. However, he is closer to his second job, received a raise, and is almost ready to take his new cash into retirement...I think we did what we could to make him happy his last 2 years in the league.

Meanwhile, the he was going to cut anyway has no weight in the debate...Randy Moss was likely going to be cut by the Raiders too, bet the Patriots were glad they traded for him and didnt need to get in a bidding war with other teams.

He was washed up too when the Pats acquired him...the Bears are going to be one of the worst teams in the NFL this year - bad oline, aging defense, and no QB is a bad recipe for stone throwing. I expect Bears and 9ers to be amongst the worst 2 teams in the NFC.

As long as it's not "declining play on the field", I'll gladly take my chances.

And even if he isn't the player he once was, I gotta think he'll give us production worthy of a mid-round pick . . .

I agree 100% with both of you. I am thrilled to have him -- just sharing the perspective of the Bears fans in Chicago.

I honestly see parcells 2.0 in bowles

Not sure what context you're referring to, but I don't see Bowles being near as "nasty" as Parcells almost seemed to enjoy being (to players AND to media).

Obviously I hope Bowles' coaching acumen ends up mirroring Parcells', but I'd be surprised if his approach is anything like it . . .

I actually think his demeanor and approach to the game is exactly like Parcells. He doesnt have the ribbing that parcells did, but his approach to the game and media feels very much like it. He also seems like a hard guy to get compliments from, like Parcells.

Thanks, guys.

Can't take credit for it though -- I hang out with a bunch of displaced NYers to watch the games at a bar in Chicago. The logo existed before I knew about the group.

Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit, you selected it as your logo and there it is. Nice choice. ;)

If you're willing to hear what I have to say about this? This is about me.

Take it for what it's worth....

I have no problem with his post. Look, I dish it out and should be able to take in return. That's the dynamic. If you dish it out, better know how to take it.

Besides, it's absurd anyway. I have shed way too many tears rooting for this team for me not to be 100% Jets fan.

I don't want to come across as too complimentary, and seem like an eternally optimistic Jets fan, but I think he has some of the Parcells accountability in him, the no-nonsense persona, but with a more player-friendly exterior. What I mean is, he may be tough, but some felt Parcells was unfair, and Parcells seemed at times distant and unrelatable, especially to the modern football player. Bowles seems far more relatable.

JMHO but I don't believe anyone should dish it out or have to take it. There is nothing wrong with disagreeing we are all individuals. The thing is it can and should be done civilly.

I hope we can unite as Jets fans, and that these two philosophies from the old boards don't do too much to prevent that unity.

All I have to say is "show me on the field".

Every offseason we see plenty of puff pieces about how things are better and how this guy or that guy has an improved attitude and is "hitting the play book" but in reality it's all BS until the bullets start flying. Writers have nothing to talk about in June, and therefore you get articles like this.

I'm very optimistic about this season, but unless Geno goes out there and plays at a level of an average NFL QB (not a bottom 3 guy), I really think this season will be a treadmill. There are very few teams that can overcome lousy QB play, and even if they can manage to get into the playoffs with poor QB play, I don't think you're beating many elite teams.

I can't ever remember a time when so much hinges on the QB position for this team. I hope he rises to the occasion, and if not, I hope the leash is short. I would hate to see this D wasted

Ryan Fitzpatrick will manage things efficiently and get us off the 4 year QB turnover treadmill of 2011-2014.

In 2016, Bryce and Fitz will compete for the job

Not sure I have faith in Fitz...but truth be told I was very Happy with GeNO until he played...hopefully a year on the bench, in the class/videoroom and weight room will get Bryce on another level

Oh, I am so sorry. Maybe we should change the boards name to Talk show with Stuart Smalley?
