Andrew Luck on ever joining the Jets: ‘F–k that, man’

Indianapolis Colts star Andrew Luck may like hanging out in New York — but don’t expect the elite quarterback to ever play here. Spies spotted Luck hanging out recently at Montauk’s Surf Lodge with his NFL pal Jonathan Martin — who made headlines in 2013 when he accused his Miami Dolphins teammates of bullying.

The duo were “drinking Heinekens” and “shooting the breeze about football” with a die-hard Jets fan at the bar, we’re told. When the Gang Green backer told Luck, “I wish you were the quarterback of the Jets,” Luck leaned in and whispered, “F - - k that, man.”

Luck has yet to ink an expected mega-deal with the Colts, but the team’s expected to lock him in to a long-term contract.

I would still take him in a heartbeat -- if there was any way possible of getting him here. That said, I hope he hears "F--K that man" at least a half dozen times from our D -- after each sack when we meet them in week 2.

Let me know when that choking looser wins anything big in a postseason. So far two blowout chokes to the Patriots.

Apparently talks big tho

Id hope our players say the same thing if asked would they want to leave New York to play in Indianapolis...

He only said F__k that because that is what he's supposed to say. He's an Indianapolis Colt under contract. If he said anything different he would have probably gotten himself into trouble with ownership.

The fact is though that just about every player wants to play in NY. Maybe sometimes no because of a bad team situation with the Jets, but in a vacuum just about every player wants to play in NY.

Luck is no different. If he were a FA and the Jets showed the least bit of interest he would be all over that like flies on sh*t.

I would give my left nut to get Andrew Luck on this team. Like everyone else hear has said, this is a non story. I don't even view it as him not liking the jets. He probably had a few drinks and answered how he felt. He's happy where he is.

Put him on our existing roster, and he turns around those losses in postseason.

Luck playing here is a pipe dream that is never happening

Better to discuss Petty learning, developing and taking the helm in 2016 IMHO

Hey, speaking of QB's how is Petty doing? I would love to know in greater detail where he's at in the learning curve, but really you get a lot of summary of the entire team and not one player.

Has anyone seen any good plays from him? What kind of command does he have over the offense? Is he learning to go through progressions? What is the general consensus on how he's doing?

Here are a couple of the comments from during the week on Petty -- sounds like a mixed bag which is to be expected. For what its worth, Westhoff was on the Kay/Lagreca show this week after the Tuesday practice and he said that watching practice, if you knew nothing of the three guys and just judged by what you saw on that one day, Petty was the best QB on the field -- although in fairness that was the day that Smith & Fitz threw about 6 picks between them. Luck gets a serious amount of hype, but I think he is seriously seriously overrated. He is not a bad QB, don't get me wrong but much of his success is due to a couple things, which are the polar opposite of what the Jets have, good weapons on offense and an unwavering commitment by the CS that he is the "guy" which leads to an offense that he throws and throws and throws and gets some success out of that. He cannot sniff the jocks of the Mannings, Bradys, Breeses, of the world.

Petty would be greatly served by not playing this season, just as Geno would have been when he was a rookie. I think this is the first real season Geno can be judged fairly. He has the most talent around him he has had since he's been here and quite frankly he had no business playing as a rookie.

I agree

Geno will be judged fairly in TC and the first 2 or 3 preseason games

I wanted Geno gone as much as anyone else, but I will say this: if he overcomes what was done to him the first two years and all the condemnation of the fans (me included) and actually becomes a half-decent qb, I will tip my hat to him...

OK. Thank you for the info. But can you tell me more? Like specifically answer the questions I asked. I will listen to the podcast right after this, but is he learning to find and complete passes to 2nd, 3rd, and 4th options on the field. How is his accuracy? How does the team react when he's in the huddle?

Unfortuantely, no, I can't tell you more. You were asking about Petty and I was sharing some of the stuff I had seen & heard during the week. Sorry if it does not answer your specific questions.

Everyone knows that sitting him is an absolute must. That pretty much goes without saying. What I was asking is he showing signs of getting to that next level anything at all ; a good pocket awareness, good accuracy on a 2nd progression, a good play action fake, anything along those lines?

My opinion in regards to who will start is clear. Ryan Fitzpatrick if healthy wins the QB competition for a myriad of reasons, first and foremost because Ryan Fitzpatrick is simply the better QB out of the two.

really? i don't think he's overrated. he's a great qb and will only get better. i'd love to have him as a jet (will never happen).

the colts will be scary this year and i think they have a real shot at a championship.
