It's not a gimmick it's a legitimate position for a certain type of player. We will not be running a traditional heavy set running offense, and it indeed may be a weakness in our offense, but basically what you are saying is you want a different offense than we will be running. I do not agree with you either, I think running from spread can be as effective in short yardage situations in the NE. Just a different approach.

It's a complete GIMMICK and good defenses will annihilate it. And since when is a "traditional heavy set running offense" as you call it running exclusively out of a tight formation? ANY good running team changes things up to keep defenses off balance.

The bottom line here is in reference to use of the H back specifically, Chan Gailey's system sucks. As I said already using a an H back is an attempt at making chicken salad out of chicken sh*t.

In the AFC East, there's no hiding your offensive inferiorities. The Jets have exactly that at TE. If the Jets could get a legit TE through the draft. Amaro would IMMEDIATELY become an afterthought.

This is just another way that defenses will violate the Jets offense. We all know that the Jets offense is terrible and this is just another way of confirmation that they still suck.

Well this post is just idiotic. Keep on hating Gailey because he does not run a brain dead ground and pound offense that you think we require. Whatever. He is the best OC we have had in a very very long time. I will trust him.

BUMS at QB, WR, TE, RB. OL, CB, LB, S

0-16, right???

I know this is just a lame attempt at sarcasm and it is completely unnecessary, but still I will answer this:

QB - We have VERY little talent at. The most important position on the field and we have one of the bleakest situations in all of football.

WR - We are well stocked so it appears. My concern is what QB can use these WR's to their fullest. I don't believe anyone this season can.

TE - We need a real live TE. Using an H back is only for team that do not have a TE. If the Jets had a TE, they wouldn't be trying this dumb H back experiment.

RB - There is good talent in this bunch. If they get the blocking, these guys will be the Jets offense in 2015.

OL - This is not a terrible group like say 2007 and that bum Adrien Clarke, but they do have some question marks specifically at RG and RT. Anyones guess who will start at RG and RT may need a replacement sooner rather than later.

CB- This probably the most talented group in the league. If Milliner could ever be relied on, this would be a group for the ages.

LB - Looks to be in good shape. Time will tell if Mauldin can be that outside rusher that the Jets have been looking for.

S - I like what we have. I still believe Pryor going back to SS is a great thing for the team. Hopefully, he can become the player we all thought he'd be.

All in all, a great defense and an offense that at best will be very one dimensional. It's the offense that is going to cost us games in 2015. My prediction for their record and I believe this is being rather generous, is 7-9. The team still has some missing pieces and that is going to cost this team. We also need to see if Todd Bowles is a good coach. All we know currently is that he had a very good season last year with the Cards. I doubt he'll have the defensive acumen that Rex Ryan had, but he'll be better with the offense.

does this open the door for saxton?

how was his blocking?

Saxton is not a good blocker. Strictly a move tight end in college -- knock on him was lack of toughness as a run blocker. Tony Pauline's scouting report projects him as a potential H-Back:

http://www.draftinsider.net/reports/2015/TE/Wes-Saxton

Wes Saxton
School: South Alabama
Position: TE
Bio: Junior-college transfer who finished with a disappointing 20 receptions for 155 yards last season. All-conference selection as a junior, when he totaled 50 receptions for 635 yards.

Positive: Fluid, athletic receiver who projects as a move tight end at the next level. Displays good eye/hand coordination, strong hands and plucks the ball from the air. Quick off the line, immediately gets to top speed and displays terrific movement skills. Makes the difficult catch in traffic with defenders draped on him, uses his frame to box out opponents and for the most part extends to make receptions away from his frame. Effective blocking in motion and putting a pad on linebackers to disrupt their angle of attack.

Negative: Not a sharp route runner and floats exiting breaks. At times struggles to make the difficult catch. Displays marginal blocking strength.

Analysis: Saxton is a solid athlete best working in space and offers possibilities as a move tight end/H-back.

Ha ha ha. If he was so great as you say, then why was he UNEMPLOYED last year? Why has he been fired over and over again as I am sure he will be fired from NY? Jets fans will go off about his play calling and start comparing him to Paul Hackett and Brian Schottenheimer sooner rather than later.

Here's a good link that shows how Gailey has been successful in years past.

He sucked as a head coach but was always a good OC.

I don't want to make this into another rex debate but your comment wreaks of ignorance and the board is dead so I took the bait. Like Rex, Gailey tried being an NFL head coach twice and in college. So I guess like Rex, he doesn't know the difference between OC and HC. Only reason why Gailey isn't going for a HC position at the moment is bc no one is willing to give him one. That may be with what happens to Rex but your comment was just an unnecessary Attack on Rex who is one of the most successful head coaches in our franchise history.

except gailey was coach in 98' 99' went back got more exp and tried again in 2010

rex bombs one head coaching gig then immediately tries again instead of maybe going back getting more knowldege.............so if i am ignorant of having a opinion what level of arrogance is rex.

Not sure that he went back to learn. He was offensive coordinator with the Dolphins in 2000-2001 and then became head coach at Georgia Tech. To me that shows me he was itching for a HC job and to be in charge. After building up his resume at Georgia Tech, he tried again at the NFL level.

Point is, there's no perfect candidate. It's the players that play, coach can only do so much. Either be a great motivator or decision maker. Rex was really good at one of the two, lacked at X's and O's but we make it seem like he's horrendous and set our franchise back. Far from it.

One thing we can hope for in Amaro's case along with others on offense is Gaily's ability to put guys in the best position to maximize their talent .
Until proven otherwise I'm going to believe Gailey knows what he's doing and expect a good season out of our offense .

I agree completely. His past shows me he knows what he's doing and I have high hopes for us to succeed. Gailey made Tyler Thigpen look good. Tyler Thigpen!

I would hope he can improve Genos play.

Jace Amaro hopes to be ready for the start of the regular season, but the Jets second-year tight end also wants to be 100 percent and admits his sprained left shoulder remains painful.

What at first he thought was a minor injury has lasted far longer. Amaro landed awkwardly on the shoulder in the team’s preseason opener, against the Lions, and hasn’t practiced since.

Jets coach Todd Bowles said he doesn’t expect him back on the practice field anytime soon, which further makes the tight end’s return by the Sept. 13 opener, against the Browns, seem like a long shot. On Monday, Amaro said he hopes to play in the preseason finale, against the Eagles, yet the shoulder remains an issue.

“Every day it’s been getting better. It’s just a really slow process,” said Amaro, who had 38 receptions for 345 yards and two touchdowns in a disappointing rookie season. “I really can’t lift my arm up all the way very quickly and rapidly the way I want to yet. … It just takes time.

“It’s just frustrating. I just want to get out there and be able to play.”

Well, so was Marty Morninweg, right? And dare I say has MORE experience than Chan? At least recent experience, Chan was planning on retirement. He got out of his rocking chair to take this job.

Things I like about Chan is he has done it without good qbs. Morniweg had Steve Young and Favre. In Philly, Andy Reid called the plays.

We will see. There have been many hires I've liked in the past that I absolutely hated by the end of their tenure.
