I like your list but I personally would not include Martin because of his Pats years. I would go with Winston Hill instead.
freeman over martin..

martin (obviously) had better career numbers but when free was healthy he was dominant..

ask don shula..

Is this just a debate among retired players? If not, I am putting Mangold on the list ahead of Martin or Freeman.

I am a big Freeman fan, but the guy put the ball on the ground too much -- I would have Martin ahead of McNeil for that reason. 29 fumbles in 3,500 career carries for Curtis and 45 fumbles on less than 1,800 carries for Freeman.

Instead of Martin, I'd have Larry Grantham, the toughest little SOB ever to play for the (Titans and) Jets. He was listed as a 202 pound linebacker. But, as written by Dave Anderson in his book about SB III, by the time that game was played at the end of the long season, Larry was at 192 pounds at game time.

Fair point. I think I would still give the edge to Curtis based upon longevity, consistency and ball security. Either way, it is splitting hairs. Bottom line, if I am behind in the 4th quarter, I want Freeman in the lineup. If I am ahead, I want Curtis.

Freeman also couldn't stay on the field.

Longevity is why Vinny has more td's and passing yardage then Joe Montana..Granted I'm not a Martin fan for that contract the tuna gave him and the 1st and 3d pick he cost to me he wasn't worth it.. I would rather had TJ,Boozer,Snell or one of my favorites John Riggens.. One guy who should be in the HOF IMO is Terrell Davis who was the main reason Denver won back to back bowls.. Speaking of Martins ball security which I agree he was good with however the most disastrous fumble in Jet history was the one he had that lost us Vinny for the 1999 season..:smiley-violent036:

I agree with most of your points. Riggins was a compiler just like Curtis. Difference is that Riggins came up really big in a couple of playoff seasons. And, yes, that is a very big difference. But his best years came in Washington -- I cannot consider him a Jet living legend.

Agree completely on Terrell Davis. He was right up there with Barry Sanders as one of the two best backs in the game for a short period of time until injury. If Gale Sayers is in the Hall, TD should be as well. And yes, as a Georgia grad, I am biased, but he belongs in.

Namath, Maynard, Klecko are the top 3 in my opinion.
Candidates for the 4th:
Martin, Revis & Mangold

I wasn't putting Riggens in the legend category I just liked him as a back.. The 4th position is Revis hands down after Namath,Maynard and Klecko..

'Honorable Mention' for Mark Gastineau.
He was awesome for only a couple of years, and got into a lot of stupid trouble, but he is still a standard (as a player) by which others are judged and an important part of our history.

I've seen some recent clips of him, and he does seem like a changed man...

Considering he has 5 Pro Bowls and made All Pro 3 times to Klecko's 4 and 2 it was more then a couple IMO..
