I was thinking of the the 2 main Sack Exchange years, but yes, I stand corrected.
I think his back to back 41 sacks in 1983-84 is still a record..

I saw this dopey Jets top 5 WRs of all time list , earlier this month. Coles was on it over Walker. Dumb asses
Gotta agree with this, meaning Namath, Martin, Klecko and Maynard. Many others I would like to throw in there like Gastineau, Toon, McNeil and even some of the current ones like Revis, Mangold and D-brick but the four you mentioned would be mines as well.
I think too many people get hung up on # of receptions and not on yardage and big plays. Walker never had any big reception years. Comparing him to Coles, he caught about 250 fewer passes in his career, but had almost the same yardage and over 20 more TDs than Coles. Fewer touches, but bigger imapct.
Walker was a big play machine and my favorite Jet through the '80s. So much that I just bought a new Mitchell and Ness 1982 Walker #85 for the upcoming season.

Agree with SavageI wish they counted sacks when Gerry Philbin and John Elliot played and I''l throw in Verlon Biggs who helped them get to the QB..
Great Post.
Also it was a different era, in the 80's the run was still emphasized over the pass and premiere RB's were still being drafted higher than premiere WR's. Some of the best WR's of the 70's and early to mid 80's had numbers similar to Walker's. Go take a look at Lynn Swann or Drew Pearson, Swann is in the HOF and Pearson was named to the all-decade team in the 70's, and their numbers look similar to Walker's. By the 90's the transition had already taken place and the WR's were at least equal with the RB's in terms of emphasis, thats why Coles has more receptions.
Also Walker played much of his career with Al Toon, and Toon was amazing too, you could pick him for the forth spot too.

Thats great research, Gold, and I almost didn't see it.Here are Walker's numbers in comparison with Pearson and Swann and he compares favorably. Swann came up huge in the two Super Bowl games and those games are what probably earned him enshrinement to Canton. Walker also came up big in postseason games, but obviously, he never got the opportunity to perform on the same stage as Swann.
