Cameron Heyward. was drafted with the next pick (#31)in the 2011 draft by the Steelers and has similar stats as Mo Wilkerson ... This signing should set the market for the Jets to sign to a similar contract.....

Thanks so what do we think? Is this a favorable deal? I'm not a salary cap expert or pay close attention to it so not sure...

I think it sets a floor. Admittedly, I have not watched Heyward play anywhere nearly as much as I have seen Mo, but I think Mo is considerably better. Stats don't necessarily tell the story.

I would be surprised if Mo comes this cheap. That is a pretty reasonable contract, and I would agree that at best, it sets the floor.

Heyward isn't much better than Douzable and would easily be the 4th dlineman in the rotation. He isn't anything special. He had a career year in his contract year with 7.5 sacks and 53 tackles. Before that he was 53 and 5, 20 and 1.5, and 11 tackles and 1 sack. Essentially saying, if he was on the jets Mo could still make him carry his bags if he wanted to...

You know what im scared of? Mo having a career year and getting elected to the pro bowl.

At least now I think we have the leverage on him, no probowl, young poeple to replace him but once he makes pro bowl. He'll be out of our price range.

If the season seems to be progressing that way hopefully Maccagnan makes a big push to sign him in season before he has that bargaining chip.
