Which GMs Did Better in Drafting than Idzik

Show me? I honestly don't know. Who did better? I saw that in January 2014 Mel Kiper actually raised his Jets 2013 draft grade from B to B+.

I cannot compare him to anyone else but I feel like Kiper's grade is a bit high.

He had 12 draft picks and only came up with 2 productive players and one of these productive players hasn't lived up to expectations and was benched this season. Amaro has been alright and I see him developing.

Do you agree with that high of a grade?

I don't know. I did not like the Pryor pick, but I don't think he's a bust. I don't think he's a bad player but I thought an "enforcer" safety was not the way to go. I thought we needed a safety who could cover big tight ends. But he played well last week.

Many of Idzik's 19 picks were in the 5th and 6th round. The chances of hitting on those picks is low. The Ivory pick up with a 4th was solid. Milliner looked horrible last year, but then started to play well. We all know Richardson was a HR. Amaro looks good. Aboushi looks good, but his predecessor - Winters - looked horrible. There's a whole bunch of picks that have been hurt: McDougle, Evans, Bohanon, and the aforementioned Milliner and Winters. Sure he's had the strike outs: Saunders in the 4th, Campbell in last year's 5th. The big miss was Smith in round 2.

So basically I'm not sure. But I don't think he's nearly as bad as his critics say.
It's a mixed bag. It's not like he had 19 picks in rounds 1-3. The only way to fairly evaluate him is to look at other GMs and compare. How many hits in round 1 vs. the average (your average 1st round pick is likely a player in year 3 approximately 60-67% of the time. A likely hit in the 2d round is 50-50, but for QBs it's 19%).

But seriously do you believe these reporters? I don't. I don't know about Idzik's draft, but I honestly believe that the press dislike Idzik. I think Idzik made some bad mistakes with them early on and they're trying to run him out of town. If they liked him, they'd be writing glowingly about his bad luck with injuries.

What are the chances of selecting an immediate starter in rounds 4-7? far less than 50-50, and Idzik grabbed Ivory, Aboushi.

Did you read the last part of the Sporting News article? The part where the author asks how the Sporting News could rank Idzik so low.
It's year 2. Honestly, what did you expect? He struck out with the Geno pick and that's a killer.

Harvin for a 4th -6th rounder is a great value too.

I think he is so-so what is hurting him so much is the fact people see all the beckham's, lee's, and benjamin's doing good and they blame idzick for not getting a productive wr.

forgetting that you need a productive QB to get these wr's the ball. I said it once and I'll say it again it doesn't matter if we have rice, moss, and chrebet as our 3 wr's as long as we have this QB and coaching staff they wouldn't be anything special.

3rd and 4th round rookie wide receivers are making an impact. true they would probably suck here now with current QB but would help in the future

Two productive players at this time. Every draft needs at least 3 years before we grade it with a final grade. By then I expect McDougle, IK, Reilly, Evans,Enunwa, Dozier- to be starters or contributing. If so, Idzik will be still our GM and the fans usual rush to instant gratification will be proven wrong. One of the productive players is playing out of position! Watch DAN QUINN become our HC and fix that problem as he did with Kim Chancellor!

Please tell us which QB could function well behind our current OL plagued by penalties, and poor pass blocking. Secondly our OC has the widespread and well earned reputation of having BRAIN FARTS when his team gets into the red zone.

We are barely competitive and that is 100% on Idzik. Only thing he has done well is get us cap room which is easy to do when you don't spend any of it. I hope he is gone and we start all over. This franchise needs a complete change.

Exactly. The idea that we missed on the best WR draft in forever and we have no CBs. If Idziks is out the job its because of this.
