SBNation -- It's no secret that Rex Ryan is on the coaching hot seat for the New York Jets. With a current 2-9 record and the lack of a winning season since 2010, Ryan is well aware he's coaching for his job week to week, and admitted that the Jets are "out of tomorrows" after the team's latest loss -- a blowout to the Buffalo Bills -- on Monday night. But according to a report from the New York Post, firing Rex Ryan has been the plan all season long.
General manager John Idzik has reportedly made no secret of his plan to get rid of Ryan since the beginning of the season, per Mark Cannizaro of the Post:
It doesn't help that Idzik has kept the Jets among the league's thriftiest teams in the NFL. Even after the trade for wide receiver Percy Harvin from Seattle, the Jets are still third in the league with over $15.4 million in salary cap room.
According to the Post report, Ryan has plans to leave coaching in the immediate future for a job in television after the season. It seems that everyone knows exactly what they are going to do even if it hasn't been made official.
How is he supposed to coach a team knowing this all season?

Ryan has a career record of 44-47 in his six-year tenure as head coach of the Jets. He excelled early with two straight AFC Championship appearances and holds a career 4-2 playoff record. Unfortunately, the Jets have been a mess at quarterback and face a significant lack of talent in key positions, including a complete mess in the secondary.Sources told The Post that, during the offseason, Ryan bumped into scouts and other coaches from around the league who told him Jets general manager John Idzik had been telling people his plan all along was to replace Ryan after the season and bring in his own head coach.
"Did he think that wasn't going to get back to me?" an angered Ryan told one confidant.
