Q..Who will be the Jets starting QB?

TB..Right now it's Geno. It's his job to lose and if he doesn't play well, he will lose it

Q.. Is there a competition?

TB...Absolutely. We're not handing anything. If Geno plays well in the next couple of weeks, he will start. If not, Ryan will be the QB

Sounds to me like the Geno coronation (based on comments by Gaily (sic)) reported here by a few is not quite cast in concrete

i caught a decent amount of the interviews this morning... and as someone who doesn't care for baseball, what a relief it was to hear football on the broadcast!

i really liked brandon marshall. it's pretty obvious that he's guning for a job on camera after he finishes playing- and i think he'd be great. he seems like he's a positive influence there, on geno in particular. hopefully he's right about the guy.

Mikey Mac also continues to impress me, seems like we really have a gm that knows what he's doing.

i can't wait for this season.

Geno rejected their invitation, most likely because Carton has been a giant doosh towards the kid. I'm not a fan of snark and ridicule disguised as humor, so I don't blame Geno for not going on with someone who thinks ridiculing the kid is cute.

Not gonna lie, I've taken shots at Geno too, but I've also tried to be fair and have pointed out that you can't close the book on someones career after two years, too soon to make a final determination, but Carton made up his mind and from that point forward he's been absolutely brutal towards this kid, just relentless.

The first thing he did when Mac got hired was to tell him you gotta get rid of Geno.

The first thing he did when Bowles got hired was to tell him you gotta get rid of Geno.

You think the kid doesn't know that?

Then he says Geno should man-up and come on the show anyway. Really? You're lucky he doesn't punch you in the face.

Listening to New York radio for football news? Might as well be a Hong Kong radio station...they'd speak just as intelligently about it. Probably twice as much, despite having Boomer who should raise the quality up a notch...but he doesn't.

Sirius, filled with Bill Polian, Pat Kirwin, Gil Brandt, Ross Tucker (i.e. former GMs and the greatest scout of all time) is the way to go...

Every time im in New York in the fall (which will be a lot this year), I listen to the local stations for entertainment purposes only...just long enough to laugh at how painfully ignorant they are and change the station back to Sirius. The newspaper writers are just a hair above the radio broadcasters. ;)

Which Sirius stations are best for football?

Channel 88

Here is a list of the broadcasters, they recently added Phil Savage, Tim Brown, Dan Leberfeld (from jets Confidential), and Ralph Vacchiano. They also added Amani Toomer, Keith Bullock, and Dan Koppen...but Im not as big of a fan of these 3 meatballs...Booger is inconsistent on the morning show too, but Ross Tucker is awesome and makes up for Booger's short comings...because Tucker knows the game, and Booger is more of a I know my job guy but often miss the boat on big picture decisions...

Carton is a joke. All he did was listen to Howard Stern as a teenagers and now does a poor imitation . The only reason it flies is because Stern moved on from that routine. But Stern did it well

Yeah, I dont understand the excitement for the guy fumbling the ball and turning it over in practice versus the guy carving up a secondary with Revis, Cro, Milliner, Skrine, Williams, Gilchrist, and Pryor...

I love the "i cant wait for the guy turning it over in practice and routinely under throwing WRs to play " posts.

Neither QB may be special, but at least let the guy play who isn't crapping the bed versus second teamers...

In all honesty it's a reach to blame Fitz for the fumbles from the snap. He is playing with the back up centers. Freeman, and 2 other guys. Both of whom are guards who are playing center for the first time. For some reason Freeman hasn't been getting all that many snaps. Fitz is a vet who doesn't have a history of fumbling snaps. IMO the botched snaps are on the first time centers. You see this a lot in games when the starting center is hurt.

Until Wednesday Fitz hadn't had an interception in practice either. he really hasn't been playing poorly, it's just at this point Smith is playing better. Fitz is what he is. A good back up, who can be relied on if there is an injury, or if the starter goes South.

Undeniably Smith is, so far, having a very nice camp. I hope it continues, but we really aren't going to know about him until the bye.

Jets have what should be an easy game against the Browns, then the schedule stiffens. The Fish will be an excellent gauge where Smith is at.

Of course as a Jets fan I hope they are 3-1 at that point, and Smith has proven he has the making of a franchise QB

vs Browns
at Colts
vs Eagles
at Miami

Colts were in the AFC championship game and added Andre Johnson & Frank Gore, Eagles are a 10 win team we face on the road, and at Miami with a better defense is another tough game.

Tough stretch coming before the bye week.
