2015 Predictions for Ryan Fitzpatrick

It's really just a sh*t sandwich unfortunately. Despite all of the good that the Jets FO did to improve this team, there was really nothing they could do to improve the very most important position on the team - QB. They got probably a decent backup QB in Ryan Fitzpatrick. But everyone knew (or at least should have known) that BOTH QB's are terrible. BOTH QB's will inevitably lead to our demise if they were trusted entirely.

As Jets fans this is terrible. We have a perennial playoff contender roster that will never realize it's full capabilities because they have a HUGE gaping hole at QB.

Maybe our best approach would be to use the wishbone offense 100% of the time?:smiley-angry037:
IMO

The QB situation is better than it was in 2011 and 2012 and way way way better than it was in 2013 and 2014

Here is his game log from last year. If you throw out the aberration 6 TD game against a horrible defense , it was an average year, I hope for the best

Well anything rated above #32 is an improvement, no?

Technically, above #29 . Carr, McCown, Bortles, and Hoyer were all rated below Geno last year.

But the response was " its been a long time since we have had even an average QB." Do we really expect better than average QB play from a QB who threw 8 TDs and 8 INTs when not facing the Jags, Titans, and Raiders...

I dont consider 8 TDs and 8 INTs average...and we dont play in a division with the Jags and Titans, unfortunately...but we do play the raiders week 8, Titans week 14, and Jags week 9... hopefully he throws 9 TDs and 0 INTs against them again those 3 games if he's still playing those weeks.

The difference between the two is; one is average, with absolutely zero upside. Playbook will be limited, drives will be long and predictable. The other does have upside, and is still a developing player, who may very well fail, but at least can make all the throws in the playbook

But I think everyone knows that -- pretty much every fan here would sign up for "average" in a hearbeat, no?

And if we're "throwing out aberrations", we'd have to get rid of Geno's final game against Miami, which REALLY makes his numbers take a turn for the worse.

Unfortunately it isn't going to take much for us to feel we've gotten better at QB, regardless of who ends up behind center . . .

Average would be an upgrade over what we've had the last 5 years. What was Geno going to give them team? Physical ability? The team needs a QB.

so we think Fitzpatrick is an NFL caliber starting QB? Im just confirming what the expectation is...top 15 QB...that would make him average, slightly above...

Are we saying we traded for a top 15 QB...is that what I am hearing? We got our average to slightly above average QB in Fitzpatrick?

I hear a lot of people kind of saying it, but no testicles yet except for SG3 who said he'd take us to 12-4 (that's division title status). Those are balls.

Im wondering how many other people truly feel we landed a top NFL QB in Fitzpatrick...top 15 would be a top NFL QB...we're talking better than Cam Newton, Foles, Tannehill, and Flacco. Did we just land that guy in Ryan Fitzpatrick? is that what we're expecting? Just checking to see where JetsFansUnited stand on this guy from an expectation standpoint.

If we landed a top 15 QB, this team likely wins 10-12 games. I predicted 8, regardless of QB, but if he's top 15 like some are saying...where is this team's weakness? We should be coasting into the play-offs...

That didnt answer the question...do we expect him to be top 18 this year? It's yes or no.

with marshall and decker and some of the young WRs surrounding him and a hopefully decent running game, i can see him being in the top 18 in rating this year.

I could see it...it scares me that with Hopkins, Andre Johnson, and Arian Foster last year he was 8-8 when not facing the Titans, Jags, and Raiders...he wasnt playing with chumps at WR last year and we dont have Arian Foster netting us 1600 yards in our backfield...so even with great WRs he was very average last year when facing true NFL teams...but to your point "I could see it" but im not as optimistic as some. Im cautiously optimistic. I do think Decker, Marshall, and Chan are an awesome group to work with...

Swiss cheese oline with the Bills? He was sacked 21, 24, 22 and 30 times with the Bills...that very average and would have been about the 20th most sacked QB in the NFL. As an example, Russell Wilson was sacked 42 times last year..Kaepernick 52, Bortles 55, Tannehill 46...Aaron Rodgers was sacked 28 times as was Geno (making them the 20th most sacked QBs).

So Fitz would have actually been amongst the bottom 10-15 sacked QBs in the NFL his 4 years with the Bills...

2009 - 25th most sacked QB in the NFL
2010 - 24th most sacked QB in the NFL
2011 - 28th most sacked QB in the NFL
2012 - 14th most sacked QB in the NFL

While on the Bills, he was actually one of the better protected QBs in the entire NFL.

I am not sold on fitzy nor was I sold on Geno. Fitzy is nothing more than a backup QB. Of course our Front office does not have a QB tree where we can pick a quality starter from. We do have the WR's and RB's that can take the pressure away from Fitzy. The big IF, can our OG's and RT hold their own. Don't take this as being negative as we do have an awesome defense and quality WR's and RB's.

Is that most sacked or least sacked - I know, semantics. So in other words, in 2011 there were only 4 starting QBs who were sacked less?

For what it's worth her's an older article that shows time to pressure, and time to throw.

i wasn't going by sacks i was going by the amount of time he had to look for a open wr in buffalo.

yes he wasn't sacked as much because that is part of gaileys plan he likes a oline that will move not just block like the old redskins HOF oline.

gaileys offense is predicated on the oline to adjust and adapt on the fly.

just because you don't like fitzpatrick you have to pull this dumb comparison out of air to counteract my positive review.

next time you do try and keep on the same topic at least i mentioned nothing about sacks
