Game Thread: Jets at Lions

For me:
- what is Bowles like on the sidelines? How does he interact with the players, refs, and his staff? Is he stoneface or excitable?

- Chan gailey, is he in the booth or on the field? What will the offense look like style/formation and/or play calling.

- do we have any spark on special teams finally?

Players I'm curious about
- suddenly Fitzpatrick
- whoever starts at RG
- Amaro, can he take the next step?
- Pryor, can he be a factor for us?
- Lenny Williams
- mauldin and I was going to say IK, both have impressed in camp
- Petty, can he flash enough to give us F'n hope for the future?

- most importantly can we stay healthy?

Normally I'd be pretty interested in seeing how Bowles defense fits this team, but I'm sure it'll be vanilla with the starters getting only a series or two. I think we will also see the 1st team offense playing it straight up as well, but the running game particularly behind Carpenter will be interesting if not short (series or two). The players and position groups I'm most interested in are:
1- DBs particularly the safeties;
2 - Reserve ILBs;
3 - WRs (3-6);
4 - OL (6-9); and
5 - Petty.

Thinking more on it I want to finally see what Dex has too. He should play a lot.

Not much. I am hoping it is just routine vanilla football with the ones. Hopefully well executed and no major mistakes. Show nothing.
Petty with the two and three's.

First preseason game might be a little sloppy. I think it's smart to play Fitz for no more than a quarter. Let Petty take a few hits and start his maturation process. I'd like to see a few young players come up big. Maybe one of the WR's like Graham or Enunwa, Rontez Miles blow a few guys up and secure that last safety spot, and Mauldin get around the edge a few times and hit the QB.

i expect fitz and the starters to play no more than 2 series. get fitz some quick work, yank him and put him in bubble wrap.

i'm looking forward to seeing petty (and to a lesser degree heaps). i expect it to be a bit bumpy for petty, but hopefully the coaches give him some play and allow him to take some shots downfield. while plain vanilla is to be expected for the starters, i wouldn't mind a more aggressive play book for the young players.

As far as individuals go I would like to see something out of Enunwa, Evans and Saxton from the receiving corps (WR & TE), Jones and Mauldin at LB, Harrison and Dozier on the OL and Dex, Pryor, Eskridge and Miles at DB.

Defense is going to be fine, however looking forward to see number 24 back there, and I'll be

watching Williams on the Dline. On offense looking at formations, tempo, where Amaro lines

up, and of course Marshall and FitzMagic. Most of all I hope to see desire, hustle, and energy!!

Already know Bowles will look tough on the sidelines.

I want to see this offense perform well under Fitz. I think Decker is going to become a go to guy for Fitz. I want to see Fitz turnover free in his snaps as well. Defense I have my eyes out for Williams, Coples, Mauldin, Reilly, and the safeties.

First and foremost, injury free football.

Of course if Fitz is healed. Not expecting much out of him. he has only practiced once with the 1's

The rookie guard Harrison. Few good tweets about him .

Mauldin, can he bring the 1 on 1 pass rush he flashed to the game .

Cro. He's been getting torched in practice.

Coples. Expecting a break out year from him

Pryor. He'll probably play the "Big Nickle" in Bowles D

Dex. if Cro is done he might be an important player.

Petty. he'll get a lot of work. Not expecting much. He'll hopefully have a few flashes. i know he's going to be inconsistent.

Qvale. got a lot of reps with the 1's in OTA's and mini camp. Think the Jets would like to see him win the job

Can't believe no one has started this thread yet. Especially with the hype and drama of seeing Petty getting significant time. Also seeing what Fitz can do with the starters. Looking for everyone to stay healthy and seeing Petty shine and work his way towards showing he can be the game 1 starter.
