Precisely. Everything here is football related. So why not have a single thread "football"? Because it's nuts. Posts that point out important new aspects about a topic, which may happen to be covered in a general way in some other thread, tend to get buried and ignored if they are added to an existing thread. Make a new thread instead and increase visibility.
Yet even the most ardent of multiple thread supporters can acknowledge that having a thread for each screw inserted in Geno's jaw would be a bit much.
Another way would be to rule with alight touch as a moderator. IOW, take action only in severe cases.
We can agree on that. But I think the board philosophy should lean heavily toward being tolerant of new thread creation, and the drastic step of thread merging should only be taken if "a new screw in Geno's jaw" is really characteristic of the relationship of the new thread to the existing thread.
And I am sure many agree with you. But there is another side with posters who lean heavily the other way, not wanting to have to wade through eight Geno, six Fitz, and five Brady threads on the first page.
It's all a matter of opinion. And it's evidence of the diversity of board cultures that has emerged here.

which ultimately we will take everything from the mbrs ideas and thoughts then we will privately discuss and come up with the way we will handle it.
And of course I will reserve judgment on how it turns out until the actual policies are enforced.
Outstanding discussion, mods. I think this board has great potential to be among the best Jets forums around. It sounds like some common ground can be achieved.

Also, I am going to be less tolerant of attacks going forward.
This board has been lenient in the past and this has obviously been to our detriment. It has created hostility and made disputes personal. May be too late for some to get over it. Hope we can put our differences aside and just move forward.
