Is Jets CB Antonio Cromartie starting to decline at 31?

@RichCimini: No question, this hasn't been a great camp for Antonio Cromartie. I've seen him get beat deep several times in practice, and he missed a would-be tackle on the opening drive of Thursday night's loss to the Detroit Lions. But I believe proven veterans are entitled to the benefit of the doubt in training camp, so I think it's too early to panic about Cromartie. He played well last season for the Arizona Cardinals, and there's every reason to believe he can play well for the Jets. He's only 31, not 35. He tends to bite on double moves, something I noticed on the practice field. You have to think his concentration will be sharper in the regular season, when he's had an opportunity to study opponents.

Yeah. I was one of the people who was very happy to see Cro signed. The early returns aren't to encouraging.

Maybe he just needs to get in the groove. ............I hope

@RichCimini is Cromartie past his prime? #jetsmail

@RichCimini: Of course they will. New York/New Jersey fans are impatient, and they expect the Jets' defense to be really good. Relax, folks, it won't happen overnight. Three-quarters of the starting secondary is new, and there are bound to be glitches. Yes, the tackling was atrocious on Thursday night, but don't put too much weight into preseason games. Teams are playing vanilla schemes and the veterans are playing a notch below regular-season intensity. Now, if the defense stinks against the Cleveland Browns in the opener, by all means ... boo 'em.

If Dee gets back and healthy , he will take that job. He has been frail, but like Bowles said, there have been a ton of players, who had an early injury history, who went on to have successful, healthy careers. He is the better player at this point

When we got rid of Cro under Idzik I was totally okay with the move. He struggled the previous season. Hopefully Cro can play the way he played last season.

I was very happy to see the Jets sign Cro back. With that said, the camp reports haven't been glowing. Hopefully he is just taking a little time to get going

Yea, the good thing is that the rest of the cbs have looked great. Revis, Skrine, Williams, McDougle. Cro will be picked on a lot this year. Let's hope he can hold his own

He's definitely sliding, but I do not see that it matters. Even half way, he's still a very good player and we get to use him until we draft a suitable replacement.

An important point to remember, is cro breaks down. He had a degenerative hip. He knows the position, and spent the last 2 years in a Bowles defense.

I think cro is going half speed so he can be healthy come playoffs. Don't need to tweak a hammy in training camp.

I was one of the few who didn't love the idea of re-signing Crow. I thought it was overkill and unnecessary, but mostly because he was awful his final year with the Jets and that left a bad taste in my mouth. I understood he was injured and the reports were that he played well for Bowles in Arizona, so I didn't hate the addition, I just thought that money could have been better spent elsewhere, like Julius Thomas or getting Wilkerson extended.

That said, he's here and I'm hoping for the best, but if this training camp is not a mirage and he's back to being the guy he was for the Jets in 2013, then move Milliner into his spot (when healthy) and maybe think about moving Cromartie to FS.

I think he has the length and requisite skills to extend his career as a centerfielder.

Actually, I keep reading that Marshall is making catches on Revis on a regular basis this training camp. Nobody's talking about that much. And for good reason. These guys are tuning up for the season. None of this means anything. It's overreaction from fans.

Bruthas, (& sistahs), are we SERIOUSLY going to start on this Cro controversy thingy again?
Get a damn GRIP already.
Not everything the Jets do is destined to lede to doom & gloom, it just seems like it all the time.
