LMAO.
HYATT™ is that way about CHI.
Can't bring hisself to type the mascot name Bertz properly & ALWAYS tries to use CHI instead.
It's the one bias even the HYATT™ can't shake out of Bob Hyatt.

Green & White Health Is Up, Turnovers Down for Their 'Kind of Like a Regular Season Game' vs. Big Blue

Many reporters and fans tend to to diminish the Jets-Giants preseason game, but corner Darrelle Revis put the affair in a slightly different light this week.

"It’s kind of a crosstown rivalry and there’s more to this game for both organizations, trying to see who’s the best in the city," Revis said. "It’ll be a bit more magnified, kind of like a regular-season game."

Here are seven points to ponder as the Jets "travel" to the Giants for Saturday night's 47th annual preseason meeting and fifth annual MetLife Bowl:

[TWEET]https://twitter.com/nyjets/status/636714294827196421[/TWEET]

1. Just Can't Wait to Get On the Road Again

These teams have met every summer since 1969, when the Jets and Joe Namath scored one of the most famous NFL preseason victories ever, by 37-14 over the Giants at the Yale Bowl — the Green & White's first game after their Super Bowl III victory. The Jets hold the preseason lead at 24-21-1, but the Giants' 35-24 win last year secured their second Snoopy Trophy in four years. Interestingly, even though the teams have played in the same stadium since 1984, the Jets seem to prefer life "on the road" in this summer series, having won the last four and eight of the last nine as the "away" team.

2. Mo Better Health

Injuries are still hurting the Green & White continuity but some players are returning. Muhammad Wilkerson(hamstring) should make his first appearance of the preseason, firming up the D-line. Offensively, WRsJeremy Kerley (concussion) and Devin Smith (ribs) and TE Jace Amaro (shoulder) figure to be out but WRChris Owusu (concussion) is back and can work the slot and WR Shaq Evans (back), off his "catch of the day" at Wednesday's practice, also should play.

3. Next Corner(s) Test

The Jets' Big Three corners' challenge from the Falcons' Big Three Wideouts fizzled as Roddy White was inactive and Julio Jones and Devin Hester had no catches. Now another attractive matchup with the Giants may or may not materialize. Odell Beckham Jr., who Revis said made "by far the best catch I've probably ever seen" last year, has no receptions yet, nor does Rueben Randle. And Victor Cruz, who bedeviled the Jets with three TD catches in the 2010 preseason and his 99-yard catch-and-dash in the '11 regular season, has a calf injury that could keep him sidelined Saturday.

4. Start Me Up

This preseason rivalry has gotten a few Jets off on the right foot recently — in Nick Folk's case, dare we say literally? Folk's first points as the Jets' kicker came in the 2010 preseason opener vs. the Giants in the first NFL game at MetLife, née New Meadowlands Stadium. Bilal Powell (left in photo above) scored his first TD as a Jets rookie in '11 and veteran WR Eric Decker and then-rookie TE Jace Amaro caught their first scoring passes in green and white in last year's meeting. On defense, DT Sheldon Richardson's first sack came in '13 and LB Jason Babin's last year, both at Eli Manning's expense.

5. Green to Blue, Blue to Green

A couple of Jets backup tackles know the Giants quite well. James Brewer was drafted by the Giants in the fourth round in 2011 and played for Big Blue through 2014, and Charles Brown spent last season with the other MetLife team. And just-signed Jets TE Matt LaCosse was a Giants for three months this offseason. Giants who used to be Jets include DT Kenrick Ellis, the Green & White third-round pick in '11, and three footmen — punters Steve Weatherford ('09-10) and Robert Malone ('12-13) and K Josh Brown, who battled Folk in the summer of 2012.

6. Coaches Switch Sides, Too

Four Giants assistant coaches have Jets ties over the years. LBs coach Jim Herrmann was the Green & White LBs coach from 2006-08, DBs coach David Merritt was a Jets defensive assistant from 2001-03, assistant strength coach Markus Paul was the Jets' head strength coach in '06, and assistant ST coach Larry Izzo played the last year of his outstanding career as one of the NFL's top special teamers with the Jets in '09. For the Jets, DL coach Pepper Johnson (above photo) was the Giants' second-round draft choice in '86.

7. Turn for the Better

Maybe Bowles and Chan Gailey are onto something. One of the coaches' goals for this year's offense: "We don't want to turn it over." Voila! The QBs, similar to the start of camp, have not thrown an interception in two preseason games, tied for best in the NFL, the offense has only one giveaway, tied for fourth, and the turnover margin is plus-3, also tied for fourth. Not a bad start for a team whose 124 giveaways the past four years is last in the league.

NYJetsNews.com’s Preseason Game 3 Preview: NY Jets at NY Giants
BY RORY OSTROW AUGUST 28, 2015

This Saturday night the Jets take the field against the Giants for their most important preseason game yet. Typically the preseason is more about backups vying for roster spots than it is starters getting playing time, but that all changes in the third preseason game when the starters are expected to play at least into the third quarter. With this in mind, here are some key players and things to look out for in the third preseason game.

First team offense: This week will be the biggest test for the first team offense, as they will have plenty of playing time to show what they are made of. Head coach Todd Bowles had this to say on what he is hoping to see improve from the first-team offense, “Just consistency. The penalties, number one, for both sides and special teams. Consistency, getting off to a fast start, making sure we gel and everybody is together. We have a good play here-and-there. It takes us a while to get started. I would like to start fast this game.” Bowles is spot on with his remarks on penalties and a fast start. The Jets first team offense failed to score until the second quarter last week, at which point the Falcons had many second string players in on defense so getting off to a fast start will be a sign of improvement. In addition, the Jets had 17 total penalties last week. Disciplined football teams do not beat themselves with penalties and cutting down on these will be a major factor to look out for this week.

First team defense: The first team defense will also see its longest playing time of the preseason. Last week the defense let up 2 TDs to the first team offense of the Falcons albeit one TD was on a very short field. The defense has a big test this week and will see much more time against a first team offense than last week. In general one thing to look out for is big plays. Last week the Jets gave up a 60-yard pass on their first defensive drive and limiting plays like this will be key. Improved safety play will help limit big plays and with S Calvin Pryor back after experiencing a death in his family hopefully this will improve. With the looming suspension for DL Sheldon Richardson it remains to be seen whether he will get 1st team reps this week. Last week, Richardson worked exclusively with the second team against the Falcons. DL Muhammad Wilkerson is returning from a hamstring injury and may see limited time in this game. DL Leonard Williams will look to continue his stellar play from last week.

Rivalry:
The Jets get to go up against their instate rival the NY Giants in the Snoopy Bowl this week. While it is still preseason, this game is important as it dictates which New York team has bragging rights going into the season. The two teams do not meet again until week 13 of the regular season so whichever team is victorious will have a long time to hold the win over the other team’s head.

Revis vs. Beckham Jr.: Darrelle Revis is widely regarded as one of the best CBs in football and this week he gets to go up against last year’s rookie phenom WR Odell Beckham Jr. Both players are immensely talented and should make for an interesting matchup. This will be a good test for both of them as both players are among the best at their position in the NFL.

Eric Decker: Last week Decker had a quiet game only catching one ball and having a bad drop. WR Brandon Marshall seems to be gaining a good rapport with QB Ryan Fitzpatrick, but Decker has yet to show this same level of chemistry. Decker needs to be better if the offense is going to be effective.

Kerley vs. Enunwa:
One of the more surprising battles of training camp has occurred at the WR 3 spot with Quincy Enunwa battling Jeremy Kerley for the position. Enunwa had a quiet game last week while Kerley turned some heads with a nice catch on an underthrown ball from QB Bryce Petty. Who gets more reps with the first team in this game could be very telling for what the Jets plan to do come the regular season.

TE position:
Jace Amaro currently has no use of his shoulder and could miss the start of the regular season. Jeff Cumberland will definitely be the starter over Kellen Davis, although so far in the preseason neither has played particularly well. Last week Davis had a bad game amassing 3 penalties in a short amount of time. If Davis’ woes continue, the Jets may want to look into adding TE depth at least until Amaro is healthy.

Jets vs. Giants in preseason: A meaningless game for a silly trophy
2h

Todd Bowles will get a chance to see plenty of his starters vs. the Giants on Saturday. Ed Mulholland/USA TODAY Sports
Rich Cimini, ESPN Staff Writer

A little history lesson on the New York Jets-New York Giants preseason rivalry:

About a half-century ago, Hall-of-Fame coach Weeb Ewbank said the annual summer clashes with the Giants were a battle for "braggin rights." Longtime Jets public-relations man Frank Ramos took the quote and ran with it for a few decades, making it the headline in his press release each year before the game. One year, the late great New York Daily News beat writer Paul Needell wrote a game preview with this memorable lead:

Braggin rights, schmaggin rights.

Cynical, yes, but it captured the essence of the game. The players don't care who wins -- at least not the grizzled veterans. These days, the corporate suits call it the MetLife Bowl, with the Snoopy Trophy at stake. Who can ever forget the awkward scene in 2013, when Rex Ryan had to put on a happy face for the post-game trophy presentation knowing his quarterback, Mark Sanchez, was in the trainer's room with a serious shoulder injury that occurred late in the game?

"We don't care about that trophy," one player said this week, when asked about the Snoopy.

Something tells me Todd Bowles doesn't have an incentive clause in his contract for winning this game. Guard Willie Colon said it best: "We've got bigger goals than playing the New York Giants in the preseason." That the two locals face each other in the regular season -- Dec. 6 -- diminishes Saturday night's game even further.

But football will be played, and it's the most important preseason game because the starters will play at least a half. Storylines:

1. The offense needs situational work: In seven possessions, the starting unit has had only one red-zone opportunity (0-for-1), no goal-line chances, two short-yardage plays (1-for-2) and no two-minute work. This is the last chance to sharpen those areas before the season opener. Ryan Fitzpatrick has completed 68 percent of his attempts (good), but his average per attempt is only 6.1 yards (bad).

2. The penalties have to stop: Since last week's 17-penalty debacle, Bowles has placed a huge emphasis on reducing the number of flags. Last week's breakdown: eight penalties on offense, seven on defense and two on special teams. Multiple offenders were tight end Kellen Davis (three), tackle Brent Qvale (two), cornerback Darrin Walls (two) and linebacker Jamari Lattimore (two).

3. Mo's back: After a full week of practice, defensive end Muhammad Wilkerson (hamstring) is expected to make his preseason debut. It'll be the first game action for Wilkerson, Damon Harrison and rookie Leonard Williams, the starting three until Sheldon Richardson returns (whenever that is). Look for linebacker Calvin Pace (groin) to sit out the game; he'll be replaced by Trevor Reilly. The starting defense, which has allowed 24 points, improved its tackling last week, but it has communication issues to clean up.

4. Some jobs on the line: Without getting into specifics, Bowles said "some" starting jobs remain up in the air. "Some" might be stretching it a bit; he's probably trying to keep the pressure on some of the younger players, namely Williams and safety Calvin Pryor, who missed a week due to a personal reason. Pryor hasn't had a lights-out camp; he could use a big game. The No. 3 receiver job still is open, with Quincy Enunwa and a cast of hundreds trying to steal Jeremy Kerley's job.

5. Beckham visits Revis Island: Individual matchups are utterly meaningless in the preseason, but you have to admit, the Darrelle Revis versus Odell Beckham, Jr. is an attention grabber. Naturally, Revis downplayed it, saying he doesn't study film on opponents in the preseason. But he knows people will be watching, so his competitive pride may take over. Come Dec. 6, there will be plenty of hype. As linebacker David Harris said, "When that game gets here, I'm sure that'll be the matchup everybody is talking about."

Never mind. Cruz is out today. Here are the Jets' inactives:

Eleven is a key number in the game of football. Twelve is the number of players on the Jets' roster who will not play in tonight's MetLife Bowl game against the Giants due to injuries.

Seven of those players are on offense:

■ TE Jace Amaro (shoulder)

■ T Ben Ijalana (knee)

■ WR Jeremy Kerley (concussion)

■ RB Daryl Richardson (concussion)

■ RB Stevan Ridley (knee, Active/PUP)

■ WR Devin Smith (ribs)

■ QB Geno Smith (jaw)

Five more Green & White scratches are on the defense:

■ LB Erin Henderson (knee)

■ LB Lorenzo Mauldin (knee)

■ CB Dee Milliner (wrist)

■ CB Dashaun Phillips (ribs)

■ DL Kevin Vickerson (hamstring)
