It looks like he's lost the respect of the coaches and the players in that locker room. I'd take a flyer on him also but what would it take to land him and are they interested? They do have a new GM so he has nothing connecting him to RG3. Insane how he had that great rookie year to now this...

That's how I feel. According to Sirius, the Redskins have announced that Kirk Cousins will be the Week 1 starter. If the Redskins are interested in trading RG III I would kick the tires on a trade. If the Redskins are reasonable it may be worth pursuing.

After further review, Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III will not be available to play in the team's third preseason game Saturday because of his recent concussion.

One day after the team announced that Griffin was cleared to play, the Redskins released a statement reversing course from NFL independent neurologist Robert N. Kurtze:

Play NFL Fantasy Football!

"Per discussion with Neuropsychologists and with Anthony Casolaro M.D., we had anticipated yesterday that the patient would be cleared for full participation in gameplay this weekend; however, upon further scrutiny today of the neuropsychology data, I agree with the neuropsychologist that he should be held from gameplay this weekend and be retested in one-two weeks before a firm conclusion to return to gameplay can be made," the statement reads.

The news is the latest twist in a confusing week for Griffin. The fourth-year quarterback was back at practice in team drills Sunday, just three days after coach Jay Gruden said Griffin suffered a concussion during the first half of a 21-17 win over the Detroit Lions. When speaking to reporters Thursday, Griffin declined to say whether he even had a concussion. The Redskins then released a statement Thursday saying that Griffin was cleared to play in the third preseason game against the Baltimore Ravens before this latest turn of events.

In an interview taped with NFL Network's Dan Hellie Friday afternoon before this news broke, Gruden was asked if Griffin was cleared.

"He is cleared from all the doctors, the neurologist he has been cleared," Gruden said. "We still want to talk to the player and make sure he is ready to go mentally and our trainers make sure they feel like he is ready to go also. Being cleared by the doctor does not mean the player is feeling 100 percent, so we gotta make sure he feels ready to go to."

The key quote in the latest statement by the Redskins was that Griffin will be "retested in one-two weeks." That raises questions about his availability for the start of the regular season. In the meantime, Kirk Cousins and Colt McCoy will try to take Griffin's job. It will be Cousins who gets the first opportunity Saturday as the starter, according to NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport, per a source informed of the team's thinking.

That's from NFL.com. He was originally cleared for his concussion but the dr reversed his diagnosis after further review. He probably still is the best QB for that team.

Listening to Leberfeld & Carucci on Sirius. They will be interviewing a Redskin insider soon. There is discussion that it may be best for an RG III and Redskin separation. How likely that is certainly is up to debate. The HC doesn't appear to hold RG III in nearly the same esteem as ownership.

BTW, I do feel the Fitzpatrick can be successful and I haven't totally given up on Geno. My point is all options should be considered.

On Sirius a short time ago, the gal they had on said that the coach is 'worn out' from all the drama surrounding RGIII. She also said some people feel that with 3 concussions his career might be done.

He may have been great, but do we need to add any more of this stuff to our team?

Pass.

This guy gets injured too much. Yes, the Hogs O-line stinks in pass protection. But it seems like RGIII gets hurt everytime he steps on the field. We'd probably have to give up a 1st rounder to get him. No way.

No,no and no. A "me first" guy with injury history? A player who's lost the burst of speed that made him special? A QB that won't put the time in to improve? A QB with accuracy issues?

Just heard Adam Schefter on 98.7. Redskin Management wants to move RG III even though there is some resistance from ownership. According to Schefter the Redskins contacted some teams to gauge an interest and found there wasn't any interested in a trade!
