Which idiot GM will trade for that contract and a guy who will only watch the games?

If the answer to the question 'CAN RG3 improve the Nyj QB position' then it should be a yes If it's a good deal for us... I like what I see in Petty, if RG3 is an upgrade on Fitz and can last 2/3 years, he's maybe worth a punt!

In all honesty, I find it a welcomed change from the last few seasons (both Sanchez & G. Smith) having a polished veteran like Fitzpatrick starting at QB. He doesn't do stupid things and seems to manage the game well. While he is not elite, he provides the best veteran leadership we've had at that position in years. Does obtaining RG III intrigue me? Yes, but it would have to be at a bargain basement price. Also I don't know the details of his contract, but if it's prohibitive that also would be a deal breaker.

I don't know enough about RG3 to suggest that he'd be an improvement on what we have. I'm happy to hold on, see Petty bed in and make his name next season or the Year after...

Marriage is: interrupting a romantic late lunch/early dinner in order to debate whether it makes sense for #Jets to consider RGIII

Sad

The guy went from Warren Moon for one season

to Geno Smith now...

To his credit, at least his head injuries are earned on the playing field not in the locker room

Why Mike Glennon tops QB trade options when the first starter drops
August 30, 2015 1:53 pm ET

There is going to be a contending team that loses a quarterback, or a potentially-contending team that isn't satisfied with what it is getting from its starter. And there will be trade options. Several of them.

I had a personnel man I trust -- and whose evaluations have been pretty damn good over the years -- rank the available trade options. This guy was pretty adamant that the Buccaneers' Mike Glennon would be the most sought-after trade chip in this scenario.

"He's better than a lot of guys starting in this league," he said.

With Jameis Winston in town and the Bucs a rebuilding team, and Glennon getting deeper in his rookie deal, this makes a lot of sense. The Bucs need draft picks and Winston will do well to have a veteran backup around him moving forward -- a guy who has already seen everything.

Next up would be Tennessee's Zach Mettenberger, who is in a similar spot with Marcus Mariota in charge of the Titans offense possibly for the next decade. There will be some trade interest.

This exec put Kirk Cousins next on the list -- though this guy is by no means a Cousins fan -- but that quarterback probably has more value to the Redskins than to any other team, given their tenuous situation with RG3.

And last would be Ryan Mallett, who has long carried character issues with many teams, and whose sleeping through practice routine after losing out on the starting job in Houston did him no favors. This exec doesn't like Mallett's delivery or makeup and doubts the Texans could get much of anything for him.

His base salary is only 3.2 million this year, but it's 16.1 million guaranteed next year. A team would have to be insane to do that.

Just rechecked those cap numbers. His 16.1 next year is only guaranteed for injury. If I'm RG, those concussion symptoms would make a miraculous return.

Not only is this guy often injured but he is wayyy to filled with himself for someone who has yet to put anything on his resume. Further, he has not taken well to coaching.

The fact that no general manager wants to trade even a high round pick for RG3 speaks volumes. Forget about him- he is not the answer to anything, he's just one more problem that we don't need.

Until I saw that salary I would've taken a flyer but HECK NO @ 16M

I corrected my post above. The 16.1 is only guaranteed for injury. Still if you claim him off waivers, you assume his salary.

If the Jets had a realistic shot at Glennon, I'd strongly consider it. Fitz, Glennon, and Petty? Sign me up.

But the Bucs are sitting pretty at QB with Winston and Glennon. They'd be stupid to just give Glennon away.

Your probably right. If I were the Jets I'd consider offering Smith and a draft pick. if their not interested, so be it

...I'm interested. Just say'in

I'm not. So you're assuming now that the Redskins do not know what they're doing? Let me assure you, they know damn well what they're much more than you do. The guy has a pretty extensive injury history and that is most normally the case with running QB's. I didn't want Mike Vick when the Jets signed him last season and I certainly would not want another.

The bottom line is that NO running QB has ever won the SB. If you wanted to split hairs and say Steve Young was a running QB, I'd say bullsh*t. Steve Young was a excellent pocket passer first and foremost that added an extra dimension. NO running QB has ever had the kind of pocket passing skills that Steve Young had.

I agree with you somewhat, read the rest of my posts in the thread. I was alluding to the possibility that RG III could be had for minimal compensation. As a matter of fact, the football management/coaching of the Redskins wants to move on, it's ownership that is supporting RG III. I pointed out in a later post that the Redskins put out some feelers for a trade with no takers. Who knows? Maybe he will be cut. BTW, I also would not assume any heavy guarantees in his contract. I meant it as a "kick the tires" possibility.

BTW, if Fitzpatrick can manage games and not have the numerous turnovers that Sanchez and G. Smith did the last few years, Fitz would give us the best QB play we've had in years.

Absolutely not! Hell no and no thank you. A fresh start may help but not with the Jets please. We already have a headache with Geno. Why bring the possibility of dealing with two QB headaches. Besides, he just doesnt seem to be the QB he was his rookie year for whatever reason. Pass, pass and pass again. I think Petty can be our guy anyway with a year at most red shirt. If not him then draft someone.
