NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — Jets head coach Rex Ryan isn’t expected to make it past Sunday’s season finale against the Dolphins at Sun Life Stadium.

The overwhelming belief is that he’ll be fired after six seasons at the helm.

As for second-year general manager John Idzik? That’s a more complicated matter. There have been conflicting reports about the GM’s fate. But according to the New York Daily News’ Manish Mehta, the front office has been a mess since Idzik has taken over.

Last week, it was reported that owner Woody Johnson and Idzik are in the early stages of a coaching search to replace Ryan. Days later, a team source told Metro New York’s Kristian Dyer that there’s a “50-50″ chance Idzik will be retained for the 2015 season.

On Monday, it was reported that the Jets are lining up longtime NFL executive Charley Casserly as a consultant.

That’s not a particularly good sign for Ryan and Idzik.

“One thing I know for sure, and I’ve mentioned it before, Woody’s going to do what he thinks is going to help this organization win,” Ryan told reporters on a conference call on Monday. “I’m not thinking about it. I’ve never worried about it and won’t. I know I have a job to do, and I plan on doing it.”

The Jets are 3-12 and will miss the playoffs for the fourth consecutive season.
