WEEK ONE JETS at METLIFE vs Browns.....lets get it started no sense waiting

I really don't feel like focusing on the negatives, after a long off season I'm just thrilled to start off with a win, so here are six quick positives that caught my attention.

1. Marshall is a beast, he manhandled one of the truly elite CB's in the sport out there today, and that strip on the INT was absolutely the play of the game. Until that play the team looked strangely lethargic and the Browns were having their way with us. That didn't completely switch the momentum, but it stabilized the game, stopped the Browns momentum, and that was really important because it was ALL BROWNS up until that moment. Soon the game was tied 7-7 and we grabbed the momentum with another late TD just before the half, a momentum shift we never surrendered. Later Marshall pretty much iced the game when he out-sized and out-muscled Haden in the corner of the end-zone. This is a classic case of stats being misleading. Marshall didn't have 100 Yards and had only 1 TD, but he was a "difference maker" out there today.

2. If there was a co player of the game it was definitely Chris Ivory. No long gainers per se, but he ran with power and passion and twice he found the end zone. I'd sign for 90 and two TD's every week if we can get it. Between Marshall and Ivory, this game was essentially won with size and strength on offense.

3. I have my doubts about Fitzpatrick and I've expressed them in this forum, but that was a good performance in his first game as a Jet. Nothing spectacular and Marshall bailed him out on that INT, but he made some nice throws and avoided any critical mistakes for the most part. He was more than just a passenger, he made the necessary plays to win.

4. Marcus Williams stepped in for an injured Cromartie and did a real nice job. BIG INT that really put the Jets in firm control of the game and nice coverage overall.

5. On two consecutive series in the second half our young edge rushers, Mauldin and Reilly, knocked the ball loose from Manziel which both resulted in turnovers. Its a crying shame that Mauldin got hurt on his play and never even had a chance to feel good about it. I hope and pray that he is okay.

6. FIVE TURNOVERS resulting in 21 Points. For all of Rex's defensive prowess, and he is a brilliant defensive coach, the one thing his defenses lacked was turnovers and impact plays. Today it was the difference in the game.

Fitzpatrick looked great other than that lucky play where Marshall saved his butt on the strip. That could've been catastrophic.

I'm confident with Fitz. He's a good QB.

agreed. marshall really saved his ass on that one, but he looked very saavy. i feel confident with fitz at the helm.

i feel terrible for cromartie, and even worse for mauldin. i truly hope both injuries look worse than they are.

on the upside, williams killed it in cromartie's absence.

Just got home from the game, was worried in the first half, but we dominated the second. Great win, hope Mauldin and Cro are ok!!

That's better news for Lozo. He might be out but at some point he'll return.

Was at the game - what a great day for football. Love going to the games but drive back is brutal.

Fitz, apart from his bonehead interception, played phenomenal. We did not dump off like he was doing in the preseason. We took chances downfield and if paid off.

Ivory is a stud.

Defense was shaky but got some lucky breaks.

Good teams punish bad teams and we did just that. Have a hard game next week but we just have to continue improving in all facets of the game the way we have been since week 1 of the preseason.

I am so glad Mauldin is OK and without any neck injuries. I really wish him a very quick recovery....I am really pulling hard for this kid.

Marshall is just a phenomenal playmaker (today, on both sides of the ball). His mere presence and drawing the best CB will give Decker and Owusu plenty of opportunities to make plays.

Ivory is relentless and just bullies everybody in front of him. My hope is he stays healthy and doesn't miss any games.

When Sheldon Richardson returns, this DLine will be scary good. Marcus Williams should continue to be a stud opposite Revis, and Mauldin and Reilly add the speed we've been hoping for and missing behind the line in the last 4-5 years.

It was nice to see a QB calmly move the team down the field in the last two minutes. Fitz is nothing special, but he will bring stability and experience to the position.

Its a lot worse when they lose. I didn't mind it as much when we win because I put the post game show on the radio; highlights, interviews etc., and I love that stuff when we win. I just had to ask my bro to be quiet. :)

IMO that's all we need. Fitz can get it done. He doesn't need to be elite. Just play like he did today. With Ivory and Powell pounding the rock, Marshall and Decker, and the D playing like they did overall today, we will be in every game. That's all you can ask. We can beat Indy next Monday. I'm confident.

The jets were hitting hard yesterday.

Buster skrine, Pryor and Marcus Williams layed some wood on their opponents yesterday.

There's something to be said for playing fast without having to overthink every situation. I could be wrong, but I always felt that Ryan slowed guys down because the scheme had so much movement and deception built in. I have read throughout preseason that guys were excited to play in Bowles system because it simplified things and allowed them to play downhill. Hopefully it'll only get better as the players get more comfortable in TBs defensive scheme.
