the Brady ruling was about process and notice and the like. He was never told that destroying evidence during an investigation might lead to sanctions. He was never told that conspiring to manipulate balls might be punished. etc etc

The sanctioned employees are not subject to the CBA - they are not players.

The NFL attitude toward them is subject to whatever rights the NFL has vis a vis its member teams. They are one economic enterprise with a number of members.

Sure Roger, let them back - soil the shield...even more.

Honestly, I hope they do reinstate them. If Brady's not getting punished, why should 2 locker room schmoes? The income they've lost to this point probably hurts them/their families more than anybody else got hurt here, and I really don't see where they had much of a choice in doing what Brady wanted. Besides, they cooperated in every sense, to the point they're employer allowed.

Also would be interesting, now that Brady knows what they think of him...

The NFL owes them nothing and should not lift the ban. What should have happened was Kraft should have arranged better higher paying jobs for them through friends or cronies.

I agree with Nick. They don't have to work for the NFL but can get high paying jobs elsewhere

they need those guys to work on a new set of special projects - like upgrades to the field level communications system.

The thing that has to be remembered is, if the NFL lifts the ban on these guys, that would be tantamount to agreeing that the Pats did nothing wrong here. What with the copies of the texts discussing the deflation issue, the video of the ball bag being dragged into the restroom, and the proven fact that the measured deflation could not have happened due to natural causes, there is a mountain of evidence that these guys participated in the cheating.

John Jastremski and Jim McNally, the now-famous Patriots locker room attendants that were suspended during Deflategate, will be reinstated to the Patriots, the Boston Globe reports.

As the Globe reports, the two men will be reinstated without further punishment at some point later this week.

However, there is a catch. As stipulated in the original suspension, the pair will first meet with Vincent to discuss new roles, as neither will be allowed to have a role in pregame preparations of footballs. McNally will reportedly no longer serve as the official's locker room attendant at Gillette Stadium, too.

Jastremski and McNally were suspended in May as part of the NFL's punishment that also included a $1 million fine, lost draft picks, and Tom Brady's 4-game suspension that has since been overturned.

Suspicious text messages between the Jastremski and McNally — including ones referring to "The Deflator" — became a centerpiece of the Wells Report.

In the aftermath of Judge Berman's decision to overturn Brady's suspension, many questioned whether the NFL or the Patriots organization had first suspended the two men. The Patriots insisted that the NFL suspended them, which would explain why the NFL originally stipulated that NFL VP of Football Operations Troy Vincent first agree to reinstatement before the two men returned to the team. The NFL, however, said in a statement that the Patriots independently sups ended the two men, which many interpreted as an admission of guilt.

Not sure what to make of this, So they're going to be allowed back, despite the evidence of guilt. But why will they be allowed back? And then what happens if Berman's decision (the judge who ruled in the deflategate case) gets overturned on appeal? Will they get suspended again? This does not make sense.

it sucks for them. on one hand, they could've done the right thing and ratted their team out...gets them canned.
or, they don't rat their team out, and lose their living, bc Tommy Girl likes soft balls.

I am as hord core of a conservative as it gets, but if Tommy, Man Boobs Belly, and Mac & Cheese Man aren't in trouble, why should they be?

Because of the quoted texts and the video. And I would not be too quick to conclude Brady isn't in trouble. Lots of lawyers, even Pat fan lawyers, expect Berman to be overturned.

The league didn't suspend the assistants, the Patriots did and freely admit it.
The team has since asked to reinstate them and although the league didn't suspend them, the league has to okay their reinstatement. (That's the way the league is)
The league has met with them and has okayed their rehiring.

The league only interviewed them during the investigation and never found them guilty of anything.
The league never found Brady guilty of anything either. In court, the league admitted it had not a shred evidence against anyone, including Brady.

Stop heavy breathing over this, Berman will not be overturned, he found that Goodell acted well beyond his authority and outside of fair and judicious practice. I have no idea why the league is continuing the issue...wait a minute, they're stupid and bunch of their lawyers are making a bundle pursuing this...the NFL has more money than brains!

Hate the Pats all you want but Goodell has a track record of doing stuff, he's not authorized to do and he and the league are going to get their hand slapped again.

The problem with ruling stems from the fact the judge basically threw out the collectively bargained powers of the commissioner
Appeals courts don't like to violate CBAs. Period.

You can question whether the agreement is fair, for the players, but you can't question whether the process of ratification was. As long as the negotiation was fair and legal, the CBA should be enforceable.

This becoming case law opens up a giant can of worms beyond the world of football

Wells report found more probable than not that the two clubhouse guys did it. It found more probable than not that Brady was generally aware of what they did. No court has rejected these findings - the court did reject the NFL disciplinary process as to Brady. NFL needs to decide whether it is willing to have people work for an NFL team who more probably than not (the NFL standard of proof) cheated. Stain the shield? Even more?
