I'm going to say Marshall. Ofcourse he doesn't need a coming out party but I think this game sowed everyone he a still a top 10 and All-pro WR.

Marshall is an absolute beast, no doubt about it! He is the WR every QB dreams about.

and no fitz is not a superstar but he is a QB and the best one on the jets roster right now.........he was smart only taking what the defense gave him for the most part and took care of the ball.

with a top 10 defense we can go far with fitz

And acquiring Brandon Marshall, Carpenter, Ryan the Red, Cro, Mevis, Skrine, AND Gilchrist had nothing to do with it?
Come on man, Rex had his problems but Idzik and Tannenbaum getting it into their heads that they knew something about talent scouting was a LARGE part of those problems.
They failed Rex miserably on the rostering of quality players the last 3 or 4 seasons.

No doubt about it. Maybe it came out that way, but I didn't mean to suggest that Bowles vs. Rex is the difference between the last couple of years and the start of this one. Talent is hugely upgraded.
With that being said, Rex had the big strength of scheming and calling defensive plays. Not a whole lot beyond that. In addition, we didn't have confident, competent and able-to-adjust offensive coordinators. Today, besides having the rare skill of defensive scheming, we probably have much much more in every other facet of coaching (and I realize it's too early to say that, but it's my opinion) :
accountability factor, ability to work with and develop young players, desire to constantly improve and avoid complacency, discipline etc. Without all of those, it's tough to compete for a trophy, EVEN with talent around you.

Nobody paid the Jets any mind, until now

Nobody paid the Jets any mind, until now

Jets fans did, we follow this team religiously, every draft pick and every signing, big or small, and we knew Mac did a heck of a job upgrading this roster. Those of us who follow this team closely, we knew it. Not saying we were making Super Bowl reservations, but we knew this was a playoff caliber team on paper, all we needed was for the QB to make some plays and don't blow it. We knew Marshall and Decker gave us our best WR duo since Key & Chrebet, maybe since Toon & Walker, and we knew this defense had a chance to be special, absolutely loaded from front to back.

But you know what most of the outside world thought?

Yeah okay, they upgraded a little bit on paper, so what does that mean, they'll win 6 Games instead of 4, maybe play .500 ball at best, thats hardly worth getting excited about or worth wasting any real time talking about. The Jets were basically an afterthought. The so-called experts paid far more attention to Buffalo and Miami.

Even after we smoked the Browns in the opener, the experts were like, yeah well, its the Browns (yawn).

But you know where they're thinking now, after we went into Indy and dominated Andrew Luck to start 2-0?

I've been saying all along, this GM and HC are the real deal.
One caution though, the Browns aren't much and although the sports media has been pimping the Colts and Luck as ready for the Super Bowl, the Pats have exposed them as frauds. Buffalo beating the Colts wasn't as much as it was cranked up to be.
This Jets team can really make headway this year and kick some butt. I enjoy each game as entertainment and this team is going to be fun to watch...for a change. (No hard feelings, but the only thing that changed with Wrecks Ryan was a tattoo.)
I can't wait for the Bills game, whoa!

Captain Checkdown looks pretty good now, huh??
For real, I'm as shocked as anyone by how good Fitzpatrick has been thus far. I knew the team as a whole was playoff caliber. I've been saying that for months, provided we could get a decent performance from the QB position. I DID NOT think Fitzpatrick could be that guy. Absolutely not. I was pretty depressed when Geno got hurt and Fitzpatrick became the starter by default. As it turns out, at least thru the first two games, he's been a lot better than decent. I thought decent might get us to the playoffs when you look at the rest of the roster, just don't stink, but Fitz has been better than that, he's more than just a passenger, he's making plays and doing a nice job of it, and I wholeheartedly believe we lose that game tonight if not for that brilliant 4th Qtr TD Drive he orchestrated to answer the Colts TD. That was BIG TIME Quarterbacking.

Thats the kind of QB play that gets you to the playoffs.

He is a smart veteran and has never had a cast around him like he does now. There is a reason he has been on 6 teams, but there is also a reason he has been the starter too. He is a great stop gap for Petty or whoever we draft in the next two years.

I didn't want to start a new post so I'm commenting here.
No one wants to see injuries to any team, the Cowboys losing Romo makes a couple months blah for them. That guy needs to have a hospital named after him.

The big one though is Drew Brees with a rotator cuff injury. That's the kind of injury that ended it for Pennington and it just sucks to see a QB with that kind of injury. If it's the passing arm, it's a disaster.

You hit the nail right on the head there buddy. He is a more than capable stop gap until Petty develops.
I wanted Geno out, and Fitz has been the pleasant surprise, surprise.

I disagree about the Colts. No, they are not in the Patriots league, few teams are, but they are a perennial playoff team with a franchise QB and they played in the AFC Title Game last year. These guys are no pushovers, especially in that dome. They might be easy pickings for the Patriots, but not a lot of teams are walking into Indy and dominating their offense the way the Jets defense did tonight. Its one thing for the Colts to lose on the road verses Buffalo, its tough to win on the road in this league, especially in the other teams home opener, but its quite another to get dominated in your own building in your home opener, thats why this Jets win over Indy, a quality opponent in my view, is a lot more impressive than Buffalo's win over Indy. This was an eye-opening early season win for the Jets, the kind of win that makes people take notice.

The drive after the Indy TD was great, but I was not impressed at all with Fitz' play tonight. He really needs to play much better for us to continue winning. He is so limited that I think defenses might adjust and he will really struggle. He was terrible outside of 20 yards and made a few really bad decisions that he got away with. I think we are seeing scheme and talent more than ability from Fitz. He sort of is what I thought he was, which seems enough for some people but I do not think he is really playing well, and is so limited at being able to make plays.

However, our coaching seems exceptional and we are improving week to week, so hopefully the offense continues to grow under him in the coming weeks.
