Bills came out ready to play. Drove it right down the Pats' throats, then forced a 3-and-out.
Rex almost wasted a challenge, though. He lucked out by a very stupid rule. Third down, Taylor scrambles, tries throwing it away right before he stepped out. Now, it looks like the ball left his hand before he stepped out, so that should have been incomplete, and not a loss of yardage.
That said, WHY would you challenge that? For one, you are playing the Patriots, and you can expect you'll need all your challenges and then some. But also, even if you win the challenge, all it means is that you will be punting from about six yards further up. Is it really worth it to waste a challenge midway through the first quarter against the Pats so you can punt from six yards further upfield?

Lack of discipline coming back to haunt the Bills. Delay of game deep, followed by a punt. After the punt, TWO personal fouls on the Bills - and of course, none on the Pats.
Nevermind Rex has the Bills in mid season penalty form.
And now taunting by the Bills. First of all, they just scored on you. Why are you taunting? It seems like they have fully embraced Rex's attitude.

Pats carving them up now. Aside from one sack deep in Bills territory, Brady has hardly had to deal with any pass rush. Now, Rex knows from his time with both the Jets and Ravens how to beat Brady. You need to give him constant pressure early in a game. Knock him down.

Someone is going to have to knock off the Pats someday. May as well be us.

Oh yeah, this is a Rex team. Seen this story before.
Granted, the officials turned a blind eye to Amendola with a late hit to the back along the sidelines, but you have to expect that. It's not like this is the first time Rex has faced the Pats.
Yet his guys are playing without one bit of discipline, they aren't putting any pressure on Brady, and Rex himself is making bad coaching decisions. Williams was going ballistic on the sidelines.
From an outsider's perspective, this team looks relatively talented but horribly coached.
Can't do it. I simply cannot root for the Pats.
And I harbor no ill will toward Rex. I think all his faults are on full display, but I think he's a likable guy, while Belichick is a terrible human and an effective coach.
That last penalty, overturning the big gain, is not a lack of discipline. That is plain and simple a Pats call. Calling the TE off the line in that situation is criminal, considering where LTs often line up on passes.
And now the Bills are having more success by smacking Brady in the mouth. Too bad they spotted him 21 points before doing it.
