Monday Night Football

My wee lad is 8 and is just discovering the sport of 'American Football' and the NY Jets.

I was telling him that I was taking a day off work on Tuesday as I was watching the Jets on TV over here in the UK (1.30am kick off over here) and he says that he wants to watch it too - this will be his first live Jets game! He has now said several time how excited he is and can't wait for early Tuesday morning. I hope we do well enough to make him proud...

The only thing that has confused him is why you call it 'Monday Night Football' when it starts at 1.30am on Tuesday... Lol [emoji2]

These are the seemingly small things in life (to an adult) that he will never forget. One of the fondest memories I have in my life is being right around your sons age and my father letting me stay up to watch the late show and late late show with him on TV. Now those terms refer to talk shows, but back then thats what they called the late movies TV would play, usually the old classics like Casablanca or something in that genre, and that was a really big deal in the pre cable TV and pre VCR days, when the only movies you could watch were the ones you saw in the movie theaters or the ones you watched on TV, especially the late shows when they played the classics.

Anyway, that was a very long time ago, it was a different world and my father has since passed away, but thats one of the fondest memories I have from my youth, my dad letting me stay up late to watch Humphrey Bogart or James Cagney, and I guarantee your son will remember this seemingly small gesture for the rest of his life.

Well if he can call french fries chips what does he call Potato chips?? So as long as they play well Tuesday shouldn't bother him..

Hope you and your son enjoy the game together. My little guy is three, i look forward to the days that i can bond with my son over football or some other interests.

when i was young, my dad worked over night shifts and i didn't get to see him all that often. when he got home in the wee hours of the morning, sometimes he would get me up and we would play the original mario bros game on nintendo.

it sounds silly and i really don't remember it much, but i'm now almost 30 and i've been an avid gamer my entire life. these kind of things will matter to your boy, and you for that matter.
