The first time it was used was 1963 during the Army Navy game.

"That afternoon’s CBS telecast, you see, was the first in sports history to use instant replay. The network hadn’t hyped that it was going to use this new technology — out of fear it might not work — but 29-year-old Tony Verna, who was directing the game broadcast that day, successfully showed off the powers of his washer/dryer-sized Ampex tape machine."

I do remember during the 60's they started using slow/mo and thought how cool is that.

Tony Verna , the father of instant replay passed away early this year.

Imagine we make the Super Bowl, 4 years in a row, and lose 4 years in a row.

Must have been hell being a Bills fan.

Imagine if we won the Super Bowl, it's easy if you try, nothing to cry or curse for,.........Never mind it's been done. Lennon stole it from us.....:)

Even worse is a "perfect" season that ends in a Super Bowl loss. I know a Pat fan who told me so. :D

Imagine winning the SB...it's the "Make-A-Believe" fans at it again.
Here's one for ya, imagine being 10 - 6. Try that for a couple years.

An imaginary scenario where Jets make SB... and lose....only Jet fans. After 35 years of watching the team I won't lose a minute of sleep.

Actually, only Jets fans would take a perfectly normal discussion -- "Oh, man IMAGINE what it must have felt like to make it to the SB, only to lose like this!" and turn it into "only Jet fans would imagine making it to the SB and losing a heartbreaker".

Not going to question your fandom, but if you "wouldn't lose a minute of sleep" because you missed a SB trophy by a matter of inches, I'm not sure you have a pulse . . .

Many Jet fans have never seen the Jets in SB, so why imagine a loss by inches. I've been a Lakers fan for 35 years as well and the 5 finals they lost didn't cost me any sleep.

Why NOT imagine a loss by inches? Bills fans had to live it, why not have a discussion about how horrible that must feel? Why does it automatically mean we're predicting it would happen? Can Jets fans not discuss hypotheticals because it will magically turn them into reality?

And I personally hope I never get so detached from my team that losing a heartbreaker doesn't even spike my heart rate . . .
