No punter? No problem. Clearly, this is just a motivational tool for #Jets offense to score on every drive. lol

Weird that that Quigley hasn't been on the injury report all week. Probably didn't want the Pats practicing blocked punts all week. I'm sure Lil Bill and the league will be all over this.

This is a very serious thing if Quigley can't go, or is really hurt. ST's have been bad as it is.

TOP 5 things we must do to upset the Pats @ NE, aside from winning the turnover battle which is obvious.

1. Our vaunted D-line must take advantage of NE's injuries at LT (Solder and Cannon are both out). Its vitally important that we make Tom Brady uncomfortable and consistently get him off his spot, if not get him on the ground, and that starts by taking advantage of what should be a huge edge at RDE vs LT, otherwise Brady will pick you apart.

2. Put Revis on Gronk. The Pats become damn near unbeatable when Gronk and Edelman are having big days, so its vitally important that we don't let either of these players go off. They're gonna make some plays, I get that, but we can't let them wreck the game. Revis should be able to handle Gronk and keep him from doing too much damage.

3. Provided there are no setbacks for Buster Skrine between now and kickoff on Sunday, this matchup verses an elite slot WR is the reason we brought this kid in here. If anyone has the quickness and skills to keep Edelman in check, it has to be Buster Skrine. This is another man assignment in my view, and its a battle we must win in order to win this game. Again, that doesn't mean shutting Edelman down completely. Skrine just can't let him wreck the game.

Those are the three keys on defense as I see it, the last two pertain to the offense:

4. You know going into this game that the Patriots are going to emphasize Chris Ivory and Brandon Marshall in this game, cause thats what they do, thats been Bill Belichick's calling card for as long as he's been in coaching, to take away what you do best, take you out of your comfort zone, and force you to beat them with other guys. Thats why I view Eric Decker as the biggest key on offense this week. I'm guessing he's gonna see a ton of single coverage with the Pats doubling Marshall and loading up eight in the box to keep Ivory in check. If the Jets are going to win this game, IMO Decker will need to have a 100+ Yards Receiving with 2+ TD's this week. This will have to be his best game.

5. We're gonna need a third WR to step-up. I don't care if its Owusu, Devin Smith, Jeremy Kerley or Kenbrell Thompkins, all I know is, when this game ends one of these guys will have to have had a breakout game if we are going to win, maybe one or two homerun deep balls for Devin Smith or some steady playmaking for Owusu or Kerley, or some combination of these things, but this week relying solely on Marshall & Decker will not suffice, we need other WR's to step-up.

If we can get these five things, and win the turnover battle, we have a chance to pull-off the upset.

Ham, I completely agree with all of this, but I would add that the Jets must score TOUCHDOWNS and NOT field goals are a must. This teams offense despite how little talent they had last season actually gutted the Patsies between the 20's. However, once we got into the red zone, we were ultimately almost always kicking field goals. When your opponent is scoring touchdowns, you must score touchdowns. Coming away with field goals will not do it against the Patsies.

You seem to think we're only going to beat the Patriots in a shoot-out. Can you tell me the last time that happened?

The only time we beat them is when we beat them DEFENSIVELY. Would I like us to get 7 points instead of 3? Of course. But if we're consistently coming away from possessions with ANY points at all, history says we'll be in this game in the fourth quarter.

I don't think anyone is disagreeing with what you're saying from an "ideal" standpoint -- it's just the idea that a perfect game is ESSENTIAL that I'm not on board with . . .

Having Ivory and Stacy as the only two options is kinda scary. What if someone gets banged up? Thought for sure they would activate Ridley as a just in case emergency back.

Think they had hoped to, but if they bring Ridley in while Weatherford is on the team, they would have to cut another player.

They should have just waived Ryan Quigley. NOBODY would claim him so he'll be there for us to re-sign next week if we want him back, though I can't imagine why we would want him back. As for Jarrett, if you were going to waive him (presumably put him on IR if he clears waivers), it should have been for Ridley since Powell is hurt.

This means we're carrying two RB's in this game, Ivory and Stacy, and IMO thats a mistake. If one gets hurt the whole load falls on one guy, and with the commitment we have to running the football, thats an awful lot to ask of one guy. I would have waived Quigley and Jarrett (IR if he clears), signed Weatherford for keeps, and activated Ridley.

I'm not so sure nobody would want Quigley, he was the 9th ranked punter in the NFL last year.

The RB situation isn't as dire as it might appear. Bohanon is still on the team. He's surely, not a top RB, but he did get some carries in the pre-season, and actually looked OK. Lot of power, no speed. They can use him in a pinch

Good point Bohanon is a beast and can get tough yards in the second half . Who wants to tackle him.

OK lets get real the last 4 regular season games we played the pats were 1 win 30-27 and a 13-10 loss that was Geno's rookie year 2013.. And last years pathetic team had a 27-25 loss and a 17-16 loss.. I think most would agree this team is much more talented then the 2013-2014 Jets.. So if Bowles is the man we all think he is,I say he goes in to Foxboro and comes back with a win.:smiley-finger007:
If Brady and Belichick weren't trying to disprove Deflategate. They want to go 16-0. I'd love to see us be the ones that knock them off their perch. We got a good chance.

In this case stats and rankings are misleading. The problem with Quigley is that he can't kick you out of trouble and shift the field position battle in your favor, and too me thats the most important thing a punter must do in this league, without that he's pretty much useless, because he consistently gives the other team good field position when he's punting from deep in our own end. That, more than anything else a punter does, will actually lose you football games. Conversely a punter who can kick you out of trouble can actually win you a close game.

I would have signed Weatherford for keeps, cut Quigley, and activated Ridley for Jarrett.

That may be the plan. Especially, if Steve has a good game.

We'll see what happens Ham. I have to assume that the CS disagrees. They are giving up a valuable roster spot today to protect Quigley from being claimed
