what I do care about are the points scored against us.that will determine the outcome of the game. winning the game is the end result.
this is coach bolwes' rookie season so what the jets did before he got here means little to nothing..Or having a HIGHER point total than the opponent, for which I completely agree. The only time statistics are useful is when you are sizing up an opponent before the teams have actually played.
What I see about this game, is what the Jets inevitably always do to themselves. They haven't beaten a team with a winning record in a long time to my knowledge, or at least not this season. I also see that the offense has never been able to put together a turnover free complete game. I also see that the ST is a disaster. Definitely the worst part of the Jets team.
In other words, not once this season have the Jets fired on all cylinders. Not once has every facet of the game played well for a whole 60 minute period.
This is why I will never say never when it comes to the Jets shot against the Patsies, but I strongly doubt it.
They would need to play better than they have at any point this season, and not just one unit but EVERY phase of the game.

the only winning record team undefeated NE beat was pittsburgh this season..
all you can do is play the team's on your schedule..
But that still doesn't diminish what I am saying. Just because this is coach Bowles inaugural year, does not mean the facts are not the same. That is the following:
They have not beaten a team with a winning record since last season. They beat 6-3 Pittsburgh last season and that is the closest they have come.
This challenge is not only a team with a winning record, but they are coming off a SB victory. This not only ups our competition, it's a good, stiff jolt into reality.
The Jets, meanwhile, have never played a turnover free game this season. They have never gotten equally great play from every phase of the game. When they haven't done that, how can you draw the conclusion that they will win?
I agree the Jets need to play well to win Sunday.
I disagree that it has to be a Herculean effort of epic proportions, and past history proves that to be true . . .
i haven't drawn any conclusions about the jets winning or losing to NE..But that still doesn't diminish what I am saying. Just because this is coach Bowles inaugural year, does not mean the facts are not the same. That is the following:

But it has to be a herculean effort of epic proportions for the NEW YORK JETS. For the Seahawks? For the Bengals? You're right. They would not need a herculean effort. However, they are also very good teams that are competing for it all.
For the Jets it is completely different. They are a rebuilding team. They won an anemic 4 games just last season. The only part of the Jets team that is actually consistent is their defense. The offense has had a lot of ups and downs. Has the ST had anything besides downs this season?
They have also never been able to see every phase, defense, offense, and ST play at a consistently high level for an entire game. The offense has turnover problems. They have yet to play one single game turnover free.
When you're playing a SB cheating chump, you MUST play better than everything I just mentioned. And if they do? It will be their first time doing it ever under this regime.
So yes it is a herculean effort for these Jets.
conversely if the jets didn't have fitzpatrick they would not be 4-1..the big difference for the jets.is that they do not have quality q.b. play. if the pats did not have brady at q.b. they would not be 5 and 0. comparing Fitzpatrick to brady is like night and day.
Maine, I understand what your saying, but this doesn't have to be a "Herculean" effort. (Is that really a word? Even if it's not I still like it) All they have to do is go out and do their jobs with out mistakes.
I look at these teams, and IMO every Jets unit is better then the Pats, with the notable exceptions of QB, and TE. Not down playing that. the Jets (Bowles) needs to find a way to neutralize them.
If he can, I really like the Jets chances of beating the defending Super Bowl Champions. Even if the Pats wouldn't have been in the Super Bowl with out de-flatgate.
Edit. I forgot about ST's. That must improve NOW.
And I'll go you one further... For the Jets to win they need a TD from the ST. Because Brady will just keep getting the ball out quickly, before the DL can get to him, and moving the ball down the field using all of those WR screens that the patsies use so often.
The Jets offense CANNOT keep up with the Patsies offense. I'm sorry, but it's true.
So we must get contributions from every phase of the game, meanwhile not committing any mistakes.
It's a tall order for a team that has yet to do that even once all season.
Can you explain how our 4-12 team hung with the SB champions BOTH times we met them last year? Hearing you talk that team should have been blown out of the water. You think NE has improved more than we have since last year? If not, then why are WE the ones who have to give a significantly better effort?
Truth be told, I'm not expecting to win -- they're dominant at home and SB champs for a reason. But I don't believe we have to play the best game of our lives to come out with a W. In fact, I'll say on the record that if we win the TO battle, we win the game . . .

It's a different regime OCCH... What happened last season was Rex Ryan's doing. You're also missing the point that whether the Patsies beat us a 1/2 a point or 40, the point is it is still a victory for them and a loss for us.
The Jets are much improved, undoubtedly, but can you honestly say that the Jets can get all phases of the game to play consistently well for 4 quarters when they have never done it this season? And for that matter, they never did it last season when they lost those two games by 3 points.
And I am also not claiming the Jets need to play the best game they've ever played in their franchise history. But THIS team needs to play better than it has ever played before.
Go back through our first 5 games:
week 1) The Jets offense never showed up in the first half. played pretty bad for the first quarter and a half. Do you think that Kind of effort will beat the Patsies?
week 2) Special Teams never showed up and they haven't yet this season.
week 3) The entire team played bad for the first 30 minutes of the game and lost.
week 4) 14 penalties for 163 yards
week 6) 3 turnovers and the offense only played well for the half the game.
Every week they have not had a complete team effort.
When you're facing the SB cheating chumps, you MUST have a total team effort. Consistently high level of play for 4 quarters. Nothing less is going to suffice.
So the Pats have never been beat when a team isn't playing perfectly?? I don't know if the Jets are going to win the game, but I remember Geno beating the Pats when they had a penalty on a long FG at end of the game. And then we made a manageable FG to win. Jets didn't play perfectly in that game yet somehow they won. Games are won in different ways from week to week. Every Pats team I have ever seen has been beatable including this one. I don't know if we will win this game, but I do know you say some of the most ridiculous things I have ever heard. You said we were going to suck and Fitz sucks. So far both have been proven wrong!! Hopefully the Jets can continue to prove you wrong this week as well because I don't want to read about how right you were. Its exhausting.
