I was watching that game with a buddy who decided to leave at the end of the 3rd qtr with the score 30-7.... As he walked out the door I said " YOU are about to miss the greatest comeback in Monday night history"

Why can't I pick the lottery numbers with that kind of accuracy? FML!! LOL

I was sitting there with my Dad and we did the same thing.
We both said this may be one of the worst games we saw.
And we saw a lot of bad football all thru the 70's
We got home in time to see the end on TV
Good times

I remember watching it on the TV in my basement. Good thing too, so as to not wake anybody as I yelled the Jets chant on every Jets score. Especially after midnight. A Dolphin fan at work claimed he hadn't seen any of it. - Yeah, right.

Me and my pops was heading to that game when we had ST. On the way there we decided to make a quick pit stop at 7 eleven . Just before we can get in the parking lot , smash a pickup truck hits us pretty bad on the side. All covered with glass but neither of us was hurt. Thats my memory of that night.

Greatest game in Monday Night Football history. I was home watching in agony and after the Vinny to Coles helmet TD, it all seemed to click. The Jets started a run, momentum shift and everyone was thinking "Ok, this is interesting!" If I'm correct, I wasn't truly convinced until the o-linemen caught the TD pass that we had a chance. Or was that the TD that put us ahead in the score?

I had section 127 row 1 seats back then. The touchdown by Jumbo was right in front of me. Man, what a game. I don't think I got my voice back until 3 days later.

Jumbo's Td is the score that tied it sending it to overtime

That's right, it was Jumbo Elliot and that was the tying score. That's the TD that did it for me. I thought we were destined to win that game. I believe it was the Crebet TD that tied it prior but the Phins marched down the field and scored right after. Then came the Jumbo score. I thought a o-linemen catching a pass like that, yeah this has gotta be our game to win. I was on the phone with my military buddy who's a Dolphins fan, screaming at the top of my lungs as he watched in agony.

I seem to recall a few Dolphins players laughing at Jets fans on the sidelines when it was 30-7.

Then I remember watching their faces on TV as the horror unfolded in the 4th quarter.

Every time i see players laughing on the sidelines it seems like it brings back memories of that game when teams play against the Jets. I always remember that as well.

I remember living in my moms house, watching it in my room, i was about 18 or 19. My brother lived in the attic. He shut the tv set off at the 3rd quarter as he had to wake up at 5am Tuesday morning. I watched that whole game. When Vinny hit Chrebet to even things up, i grabbed a broom and started to bang on the ceiling to wake his ass up!! He woke up, we watched the whole thing till the end, lost our voices...

Lets just say the whole neighborhood was either late for work or drowsy as hell the next morning.. Great game, one of my favorites of all-time!

Sequence that seems to have been forgotten in all of the insanity from that game was Marcus Coleman in overtime. Picking off Fiedler on 3rd down, only to fumble during the return, covered by the Phins for a first down. A few plays later, in Jet territory, Coleman picks Fiedler again, but holds onto the ball and the Jets drive to the winning FG.

Unfortunately, we went 3-6 the rest of the way an missed the playoffs while the Phins wound up winning the Division.
