Jets Hall of Famers (past and future)

Figured this would be interesting to talk about. Our beloved team doesn't have alot of HOFers but I can see quite a bit coming in the future from this current team. So lets discuss it, we have Broadway Joe, Don Maynard and Curtis Martin in. Pardon me if I'm forgetting anyone. We should have Klecko in there also but I digress.

This current team should give us Revis, Marshall, Wilkerson, Richardson, Mangold and D-brick. Revis should be first ballot IMO. Other current players that have played some years, I'm guessing Cro has a chance but he won't be first ballot ofcourse. Longshots would be Decker, Ivory and Harrison. Thoughts!

Note: Also who do you think has a chance to get in from past teams? I currently cant think of anyone because either injuries killed their careers like Pennington or Al Toon or they weren't as talented or didn't produce enough as their talents should have like Keyshawn, Ellis or Abraham or they didnt play with us long enough to want to go in as a Jet like Farve or Ed Reed.

Players don't go in as a team member just as a player at his position.. At this point in time Revis is the only shoo in..

No they dont but they choice or atleast it appears that way that they choice with team they want to represent them or vice versa. Marshall, Mangold, D-brick, Wilkerson and Richardson should be also if they keep playing at all-pro levels. Especially if this team can win a SB or two before they retire.

Pretty much it with Namath, Maynard, Martin and (in our hearts only) Klecko.

Agree that Revis should have a good chance along with Mangold based on their body of work so far. Maybe another pro bowl or two would help the voting along

If some of the other names mentioned last a decade or so, then maybe consideration is worthy. A lot of talented and successful players just do not have the requisite number of years to qualify or end up elsewhere after only a few years so they are associated with another club (i.e. John Riggins)

So guess who else is in the hall as a Jet?

If you guessed Fireman Ed, you would be right

There is a fan section. I don't know if the selections are permanent or periodic, but each team had a fan inducted on the hall. For some it was a group like the hogs in Cleveland, others had some long time season ticket holders and the Jets had 'Ole Ed. This is from a visit years ago ('05) so I cannot vouch if this is still true

I think the Jets have two HOF snubs from their history; Joe Klecko and Winston Hill.

IMO both of those guys belong in the HOF and its an anti Jets bias thats kept them out.

As for the current Jets, Revis should be a first ballot HOFer, Brandon Marshall probably gets in too, especially with the way he is still playing at such a high level, and you can make a good argument for Nick Mangold too. The D-line guys (Sheldon, Wilkerson, Williams) all have a shot, but its still too soon to say.

Are we talking about the HOF, or The Ring of Honor?

Revis--HOF

Marshall-- Not a HOF'er. Only way he makes ROH, is if the Jets win a Super Bowl.

Wilkerson-- May not be a Jet next year............Real good player not HOF

Richardson--- Lets see how many years he'll be in the NFL first....Super Talented

Mangold---- Love Nick. Not a HOF'er...ROH..Perhaps

D'Brick----Good player. That's it

Marshall-- Not a HOF'er
.... YET

This guy has a real chance, FLG, he's got a slew of 100+ receptions and 1,000+ yards seasons (five 1,200+), and he's still going strong, he's on pace for another 100+ receptions, 1,200+ yards and 10+ TD's. Another season or two like this one and he's a legit HOFer in my view. He's been one of this generations most dominant WR's, a nightmare matchup for DB's.

Perhaps I'm overzealous about Mangold, Marshall and D-brick but I believe and played long enough and well enough to be considered. Winning a SB or two should make them and show in. Sheldon, Snacks and Mo have more years to prove it but if they can play at this level for some more years, I see it. Cro long shot but maybe with a SB.

Wow, as much football as I watch and listen to I didn't know that. How did I miss that? Thanks for the fun fact though!

Agreed and let's not forget the fact he's played for four different teams and a slew of QBs, makes him even more legit as a HOFer. To put up numbers like this with that many people throwing him the ball shows just how much this is all his talent that's producing these numbers.

I believe Vinny would have a slim chance if they would have won a SB or two with him at the helm. Probably a very good chance if they won two SBs.
