Had a few minutes and was curious so took at look at Fitz's last 16 regular season starts.

277 for 458 for 3,410 - 60.5% completion percentage, 27 TD's, 11 INT's, 4 fumbles (2 lost), 63 rushes for 277 yds and 2 TD's. Overall accounted for 29 TD's and 13 TO's.

I randomly selected Philip Rivers for comparison and his numbers look like this:

68% completion percentage, 4968 yards, 30 TD's, 17 INT's, 0 rushing TD's, 4 fumbles lost. Overall accounted for 30 TD's, 21 TO's.

Fitz's cap charge 2015 is $3.25 Million. Rivers is $21.1 Million.

This is great. I'm a big fan of Fitz, he's our best qb by far but we need him to win some games. Winning should be the only stat that counts. I could imagine, there was a lot of garbage time in the games from last year.

Think Archie Manning might disagree

Not bad for a game manager! Seriously, that is very good production and a good fit for the way the front office has constructed this team. Gotta develop a consistent running game because it is too much of a burden for him to carry the entire offense.

I also think that we need to figure it how to get more production from people other than Marshall, Decker and Ivory.

I really do like Fitz but let's look at reality, it is about wins and losses. Fitz is not a franchise QB. I will agree that he is a good bargain at his price, as long as we don't think that this level of winning is acceptable; it is not. I do like the way he carries himself personally; I don't think he motivates others as a leader should. It is an interesting experiment but it may blow up? I don't give a rat's arse about his stats. Doesn't really matter as we were not beating the Pats no matter what we did this year and as much as I want to rush the Petty era cooler heads are running the franchise

Geno's last 16 games are very similar. Stats are very very deceptive in reference to Fitz.

stats can be deceptive, i won't argue that.. but by all means help me understand why smith needs to take another meaningful snap as a jet..

because in my view i'll take my chances with a pro/leader of men over a village idiot..

very good post and i really like fitz also for what he is a game manager not a franchise qb which I have always said. If he was the same height as rivers his completion pctg would be alot higher but fitz gets alot of balls knocked down at the line of scrimmage. He also never had a outlet TE like gates to throw to.

As a hold the fort guy and a guy you want to groom a young QB behind with high character can't do much better than fitzy.

Yup. To me, the biggest difference in the offense this season is in the red zone. When we get there, Fitz gets us in the end zone -- aside from last Thursday night. We lead the league this season in red zone % at 71%; we were 32nd last season at 36%. Some of that may be Fitz, some of that may be Gailey vs Morninwheg. Haven't seen any wildcat with QB split out wide in the red zone this season.
