Week 12 NFL Preview: Dolphins at Jets

What do the jets need to do to beat Miami? Can we? Which Jets team shows up?

I hope to see an inspired team that shows effort from the opening whistle. Need to see some turnover from our defense. First two weeks the defense was causing a ton of turnovers which was probably one of the reason the team got off to the hot start. Time for that to start happening again.

Miami is playing better, but the key to Jets beating them again is Ivory running all over them like last time. If Ivory isnt healthy & cant run at 100% Dorkfins have a chance to beat our Jets. I dont think Jets Defense has to worry about Fins QB passing on Jets. But Jets front Defense better bring it, because the back end CB's of Jets are not playing as a top pass stopping team.

Chris Ivory is successful when the team uses single-back, I-Formation packages whereas he can make one-cut and turn it up-field. All these shotgun plays erase any production he is able to bring to the table. Defenses have to game plan for Ivory, but it is our own Offensive Coordinator takes our play-maker out of the game plan.

Now I know the shotgun is better for Fitz, but he either needs to suck it up and get under center or might as well release Ivory as he is effectively useless for our offense.

If Fitz can't play better thane did then I would rather have Geno turn around and hand it off 100 times. Fitz not being under center has caused the running game to suffer along with horrible OL play. Teams know what plays are being run easier when the QB can't be under center. This is our last chance to turn this around. Lose this game and season is officially over.

Boy gmf, I'm so sick of Gaileys play calling that its very hard to watch. He makes me want Shotty back. Yeah, handing the ball off from shotgun is just plain stupid. Showing Defenses 7yds back where the ball is going to swarm to the play is dumb. Really need the D to step on the gas being in the back field causing Fins QB to panic. Fitz is go under Center & has no problem like Geno has. So I dont know why Gailey likes shotgun which was designed for a 3rd & long all pass play & not an every down play action play. Gailey & 1990 football is getting on my nerves. You knew I didnt want him9Gailey) hired because of these and more issues, gmf

the way we have been playing lately has been just flat out gutless. no guts, period. Yeah we lost that new England game but to me that was an acceptable loss, and we played with intensity and almost won. I cant imagine that the NE loss caused this spiral. I don't know whats going on but if bowles wants to lose the team, they will continue down this path. Without mangold I think this game against Miami is a 50- 50 toss up. We need to be woken up, fast.

I heard Bowles is upset as stated by Mo Wilkerson when he was on WFAN today. He said he was very firery. We will see if that trickles down to the players.
Big week here fellaz.

Changes are coming thats for sure. I expect Erin Henderson to start in place of Demario Davis in the middle. Definetly we will see more of Lorenzo Mauldin on the outside. Dee Milliner needs to be active for this one, i'am tired of watching Cro getting burnt or called for holding.

On offense i expect Chan to be more creative in oving the football. This slinger type of game calling needs to stop.

Also, as many have said, Geno may play in this game if Fitz doesn't deliver. It will be interesting how Geno responds if his number is called upon. I hope i am dead wrong on this kid. If he comes in and tears it up, he can begin to change the mind set of many Jets fans that have given up on him.

We shall see.

If Geno steps on the field!.I head for the parking lot or train with about 45000 others not interested in a trainwreck and guaranteed loss

Ten things to know about the Miami Dolphins (4-6)

Ten things to know about the Miami Dolphins (4-6)

1. We last saw the Dolphins in London, where they fell to 1-3 and fired their coach. Surely, you remember that Week 4 contest: They forgot to show up for the first half, couldn't tackle Chris Ivory and clinched Joe Philbin's fate with a 27-14 loss.

2. Interim coach Dan Campbell is 3-3. The coaching change provided an immediate spark, as the Dolphins won their first two games under Campbell. They returned to earth quickly, in large part because their offense stinks. You have to like his enthusiasm and fiery attitude -- he's the anti-Todd Bowles -- but there's virtually no chance he gets the full-time gig. Former Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum, the Dolphins' football czar, will look to hire his own man after the season.

i

3. Are you pumped up for the Quinton Coples homecoming? After getting fired by the Jets, Coples, claimed on waivers Tuesday by the Dolphins, will return to MetLife Stadium with a chance for payback -- if he's active. No, this won't generate as much notoriety as the IK Enemkpali return ... unless we discover he punched out a former teammate.

4. Basically, this game is an elimination bout between two dazed and battered fighters. The loser can forget about the playoffs, especially if it's the Dolphins, who have an 0-4 record in the AFC East. They were outscored in those games, 137-52. Yowza. If they can't beat the Jets, they'll probably take an oh-fer because they close division play with the New England Patriots. Good luck with that.

5. The Dolphins' main problem is an inability to score. That's important. They're 26th in scoring offense, having averaged only 14.5 points per game over the past four. In fact, they've topped the 20-point mark only twice in 10 games. The Jets are no juggernaut, but they've done it five times.

6. A lot of the blame has fallen on Ryan Tannehill, the same quarterback who received a six-year, $96 million contract extension last offseason. He peaked last month with a four-touchdown game against the Houston Texans, but his Total QBR has plummeted to 23.3 over the past four games. Want to rattle Tannehill? Blitz him. His QBR against the blitz is a league-low 19.2. Make no mistake, he will see a lot of blitzes on Sunday.

7. The coaching change provided a wake-up call for Ndamukong Suh, the Dolphins' $114 million free-agent defensive tackle. In four games under Philbin, he had no sacks and 10 tackles, according to ESPN Stats & Information. In six games under Campbell, he has four and 29, respectively. Bad news for the Jets, recovering from a J.J. Watt hangover.

8. The Dolphins' best player in the previous meeting was Jarvis Landry, who had 258 total yards (including 189 on kickoff and punt returns). The Jets held him to four catches for 40 yards as a receiver (12 targets), but they had Darrelle Revis on him. Revis (concussion) may not play this game, which could pose a problem

9. Campbell, a former New York Giants tight end, has placed an added emphasis on the running game. The beneficiary is Lamar Miller, who is getting more touches. He has slumped the past couple of weeks, but he had a previous streak of five straight games with a touchdown. He ran for 175 against the Texans, a lot more than the Jets did.

10. There was at least one positive last week for the Dolphins: They didn't allow a safety for the first time in four games, avoiding a dubious record.

No doubt to pick his brain for audible calls and tendencies. Maybe he'll get in for sub packages on late passing downs.

Yep.

I'm sure that will all be changed this week, as it is most every week.

Think we'll only see Coples on pass rush situations

We will see what kind of coaching staff and team composition we have this week... If they fail to show up yet again then its on the HC and coaches...
