LOLz hey, i did apologize, thanks so much..:hijacked:
yes, it really does feel like that!!
especially considering we needed an upgrade at WR as much as any team in the league..
:hijacked:That's not true. Griffen has given Snyder his last winning season in 2012. And Snyder no longer loves RG3, that's why he gave the ok to publicly criticize him.
the reality is this was one of the deepest WR drafts ever & we didn't get one!! unless you're gonna try & tell me the evans kid becomes special when he gets on the field..seem/feel it's not reality. we need a QUARTERBACK. Just like Cris Carter said. Sure, we could use a wide receiver. But suppose Idzik went into the year with Edelman and Lafell? and Brady/Belichick went into the year with Kerley and Decker? Lafell suddenly found himself with Brady throwing to him. How do you think Edelman and Lafell would do with Geno throwing to them?
Are you sleeping with Idzik??? And did you just compare him to those 4 coaches?? We will never know if it was a huge mistake because he will never be hired as a GM again.
I'm not comparing him to those coaches in skill or ability. All I'm saying is that at one point, even the great ones were not widely sought after. We may realize that we made a mistake. Just like the Mets after they passed on Whitey Herzog and he went on to become a great GM. Or the Knicks when they passed on Phil Jackson. Or even the Giants when they passed on Vince Lombardi. In each instance, the team did not think much of what they were taking a pass on.
I may be wrong. Idzik may suck. But he deserves another year. If there's no sign that the players are developing: Amaro flounders, Pryor does not develop, Aboushi sucks as do Milliner, MacDougal etc. Then, I agree, we clean house. I'd keep a tight watch on his free agent signings and his draft.

BTW, john.. who drafted this geno you've spoken of??
i tell you what for his sake he better hope he doesn't go bust monday morning..It's "Little John."
I agree that we should have gotten a wide out from this draft, but after Evans, Watkins and Beckham it was simply pot luck. There was no skill in picking Matthews over Saunders. And that's why I think he went after Pryor (a pick I was against). I think he saw the risk in using a first or second rounder to select one of those guys. Since there was no decisive pick among any of the other receivers, he figured he could grab quality players at 1&2 and still get one of the other wide outs. He grabbed two. Too bad he didn't select Jarvis Landry and J. Matthews. I he had, we'd all be saluting him as a genius. But when the picks were made, most everyone said they were good choices.
The selection of Geno in the second round was also a good bet. It didn't turn out well, but I understood and agreed with the reasoning. QBs in the 2d round are historically a 20% bet; 1 of 5 turn out to be franchise QBs. But I think Geno was a better bet than 20% and so I agreed with the pick. Idzik crapped out on Geno, but I like the reasoning.
Basically what I'm saying is that Idzik places good bets, but has experienced bad luck. After a while he's going to pay off.
i tell you what for his sake he better hope he doesn't go bust monday morning..
because as its been mentioned, dude may never get another sniff of a GM gig ever again..
devils advocate not withstanding..
monday should be interesting..His criticism is due to his handling of the press. If he would have allowed leaks to key reporters, he would not have been treated this harshly. His friends in Seattle and elsewhere know this, and he'll get a job soon enough. Next year and the year after, his picks will speak for themselves. If they turn out well he'll have a decent resume. If not, he won't.
While it may not be fair to fire a GM after only two seasons of taking over a bad team in Cap hell, I think Cubs President Theo Epstein said it best:
Cubs president Theo Epstein said in a statement:
“Last Thursday, we learned that Joe Maddon — who may be as well-suited as anyone in the industry to manage the challenges that lie ahead of us — had become a free agent. We confirmed the news with Major League Baseball, and it became public knowledge the next day. We saw it as a unique opportunity and faced a clear dilemma: be loyal to Rick or be loyal to the organization. In this business of trying to win a world championship for the first time in 107 years, the organization has priority over any one individual.
Woody must be loyal to the Jets franchise first and reboot the entire operation. If we are firing the HC, this time lets do it right and set a new course.
How anyone can want to keep John Idzik as GM is beyond me!!!
I know a GM normally gets at least 3 years to right the ship... or to at least show that he is on the right course. After 2 years, we are unquestionably worse off than when he was hired. Although he has made SOME good moves, but there have been many bad moves and, more importantly, bad non-moves. In my mind, the biggest reason to run him out of town is his stubbornness. While I admire his hard line negotiating tactics, they have hurt us more than helped us. What good does it do us having all this money under the cap, if it will never be spent? While Idzik was going about his slow and deliberate negotiations, other teams were scooping up many of the best available free agents. By the time Idzik was ready to make a signing, almost all of the trains had left the station. Additionally, he has been completely unresponsive to Rex's needs. Even I know that Rex's defense is predicated on good cornerback play. Don't tell me Idzik tried and they got injured. Not too long ago, the Jets had the best (or at least one of the best) cornerback tandems in the league. None of the replacements (had they not been injured or quit on us) showed anything close to what could be called decent play.
A GM must make deals and compromises. This guy has been stubborn and stood his ground to a fault. Idzik has his principles. What do we have? 3 wins!
That was an awful post. The Cubs didn't reboot the entire organization. They hired one guy over another. Of course Woody has an obligation. But that obligation isn't to "reboot", it's to win. You know who reboots every other year? The Redskins. The Raiders. This is a damn good post.
Problem is Idzik has done zero to prove he can improve this team. So far we are worse from year 1 to 2. Can't draft, can't choose FA's and I don't trust him to pick a coach. Time to move on. You are the only person on the planet besides his parents that think he should stay GM of the Jets.

But the very first post in this thread asked to identify any other GM that drafted better than Idzik in the past two drafts. Simply saying "he can't draft" without showing that his selections were worse than anyone makes no sense. Read the thread before you post conclusions that have no basis.
