So all the "experts" had the Jets winning maybe 6 games. Jets are 9-5 with two to go, and the Jets might put together a respectable record. Meanwhile, the experts are right about how bad the Jets are.

It's good to see the Same Ol' Jets Fans mentality exists. The Jets could go 19-0 on their way to the Lombardi Trophy, and if they did not go unscored upon all season, some fans would talk about how much they suck.

+1

This season has a lot of pluses that we could build upon already in my opinion. We found a qb for next year until Petty develops. that in itself is huge because it will enable us to find replacements for our aging vets on the oline and lb positions.

More importantly, I think we found a good head coach. I was on record being unhappy with him during the losing streak but I was wrong. So many players are having career years under him and that speaks volumes. He puts players in position to succeed and isn't stubborn. Pryor, Fitz, Mo, Ivory, Winters among others are playing above what we all thought they were capable. Keep plugging the holes and we can sustain winning for years!

I never said they sucked, but I was bitterly disappointed after that 1-3 stretch, felt like they badly underachieved and I was ready to cash in our chips and start Petty. I was never down on Fitz, didn't blame him for the losing, but I felt like the season was lost so we might as well move on to the future. You pushed back pretty hard on that idea at the time and you were right, you were right and I was wrong, thankfully Bowles and Mac didn't throw up the white flag when I would have, now we have two games left with a chance to win 11 Games (6 in a row) to close out the season.

Huh, what the hell are you talking about? The Jets barely won yesterday against a beat up and battered team they were clearly better then. Yes the Cowboys defense is excellent and alot better then I realized. That should not have mattered in this game because the Cowboys should not have been able to gain more then 150 and score a point with our supposed vaunted defense. Our offense was unprepared and sloppy all damn game. Penalties like as if we were the Bills and special teams were disgusting also. That is not the makings off a true playoff threat team. Same with the Eagles and Texans game. No way in hell they should have beat us but they did.

The Bills game was a pure embarrassment because everyone know what that meant. Especially the Jets and they let Rex Ryan bring his team back into Metlife in his first against his old team and they won. Now the Pats and Raiders losses were alot more understandable. The Pats are the Pats and eventhough they gave that game away, they played a hard respectable game to build off of. The Raiders game they were just out matched period by younger and I guess better talented team. Yesterday game shouldn't have gone down like that and if that's any indication of how they will look the next two weeks, they will probably lose both games and definitely be home early. PERIOD!

During the course of a long football season you're bound to get a few hiccups. It happens to most teams. You're not going to beat each team convincingly. Dallas gave us their best shot and we took it and still won. That's the sign of a good team.

Dallas has one of the best O-lines in football, maybe the best, and their defense is TOP 5 caliber. It won't say that statistically because they played without a QB all year, which puts your defense in a bad spot week after week, but IMO if Romo had stayed healthy they would have won the NFC East in a rout and their defense would be much higher ranked ... and while their record stinks, we got their best shot yesterday in their building and on a short week, THEY DIDN'T THINK IT WAS OVER because the NFCE is so awful, so we got their last-best shot.

I was scared of this game and I said so earlier in the week, I said Tennessee wasn't the trap game, but this one is, short week, road game, losing team (but still alive), strong D and O-line, and directly in front of Patriots week.

This game had me extremely nervous and a lot of what I feared happened, but we found a way to win it anyway.

I thought they would be about a 9 win team, 10 if things went right. I still believe that, and would be surprised if they swept the final two, but would not be surprised if they split them.

Thank you for making my point. You microanalyze. Ugly wins, pretty losses, injuries, breaks, and to a lesser degree strength of schedule all even out in the course of a season. The true test of a team is its record, plain and simple.

How many games over their run have the Pats won where they shouldn't? It happens all the time. They play ugly football, catch some breaks, and find a way to win. Nobody calls them out for that. Instead, they're lauded for their record. But with the Jets, some wins simply aren't enough for some fans.

I hate to focus on the negative cause that was such an ENORMOUS PLAY in the game, but man is he slow!

Odell Beckham would have taken that to the house running backwards. If you beat the CB on a Stop & Go that badly, with no safety help over the top, you should high-step the last 30 yards and score. I should know, that was my signature move in street football back in the day :global (35):

According to this he has similar speed to Devin Smith's 4.42 They have him here at 4.45 for what ever that's worth . I'd post the link but people are getting upset about posting links for some reason

Early years[edit]
A native of the Liberty City neighborhood of Miami, Thompkins attended Miami Northwestern High School.[1] A classmate of Anthony Gaitor, Thompkins started for Northwestern, but was academically ineligible to play as a sophomore and was later expelled for violating school policy. He was allowed to re-enroll prior to his junior football season, only to be expelled again later in the year.[1] After spending his junior year at an alternative school, he re-enrolled at Northwestern for the third time prior to his senior year and finished his high school football career. Not long after the season concluded, Thompkins was expelled for the third time, after being arrested on armed robbery charges.[1]
After seven mostly drug-related arrests Thompkins was barely recruited coming out of high school. His only scholarship offer was from Morgan State, but he never enrolled.
College career[edit]
Thompkins briefly attended Palomar Community College in San Marcos, California in 2008 before transferring to El Camino Community College in Torrance, California to play football. At El Camino, Thompkins recorded two 1,000-yard seasons in a row, being named a team captain as a sophomore.[1] Following his sophomore campaign, Thompkins signed with the University of Tennessee in order to play under then-coach Lane Kiffin; following Kiffin's departure to become head coach of the USC Trojans football team, Thompkins transferred to the University of Oklahoma Sooners, but did not play at either university, as Oklahoma has a strict policy against admitting students with a history of legal troubles.[1] Instead, Thompkins transferred to the University of Cincinnati, where he played for two seasons from 2011 to 2012.
As a junior in 2011, Thompkins caught 44 passes for 536 yards (12.2 yards per reception) and two touchdowns. As a senior, he recorded 34 receptions for 541 yards (15.9) and two touchdowns.
Professional career[edit]
New England Patriots[edit]
The New England Patriots signed Thompkins, an undrafted free agent, on May 3, 2013. As required by the NFL's Collective Bargaining Agreement, the deal was a three-year contract. Thompkins received a $2,500 signing bonus, and $2,500 of his 2013 salary was guaranteed.[2]
In his preseason debut, Thompkins registered 4 receptions for 23 yards with the first-team offense against the Philadelphia Eagles.
In the third game of the season, Thompkins caught the first two touchdown passes of his career to help the Patriots win the game 23–3 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. In week 4, Thompkins had the best game of his young career, registering 6 receptions for 127 yards and one touchdown in a win against the Atlanta Falcons. In week 6's matchup against the undefeated New Orleans Saints, Thompkins caught the game-winning touchdown on a 2nd down play with 5 seconds remaining in the game.[3]
Thompkins was released by the Patriots on October 4, 2014.[4]
Oakland Raiders[edit]
Thompkins was claimed off waivers by the Oakland Raiders two days after his release, on October 6, 2014.[5]He caught 15 passes in 12 games for 209 yards with Oakland and was cut by Oakland on September 1, 2015.[6]
Second stint with Patriots[edit]
The Patriots re-signed Thompkins to their practice squad on September 6, 2015. Thompkins was released from the practice squad on September 30, 2015.[7]
New York Jets[edit]
On October 2, 2015 the New York Jets signed Thompkins to their Practice squad.[8] He was promoted to the active roster on October 20, 2015 after Quincy Enunwa was suspended.[9]

Like most fans my emotions do fluctuate based on wins and losses, but I rarely complain about wins because I know wins are hard to come by in this league, especially road wins, but all wins are worth celebrating. This is not college football. There are no William & Mary's to beat up on in this league. This is the mens league where everyone gets paid and even the presumed mismatches are not the kind of mismatches you get in college, where the favorite can name the score.

ANY GIVEN SUNDAY, thats what this league is all about, so when you get a win, you should never feel bad about it.

Agreed. Winning six in a row would be a great way to finish the season, but i can't see it happening with these two games. I say we probably split.

I can see your point and not sayin I'm guilty of that all the way but I am to a certain extent. Losses are significant and struggling wins can be also depending on who your playing. The three losses the Jets shouldn't have lost (Bills, Texans and Eagles) just might cost them a playoff spot. It doesn't matter if they win out, they still may not make it because of those losses in particular. Or pick any one of them rather to be more realistic. You have to beat the teams your better then and we all know the Jets are better then those three teams. Struggling wins like yesterday can be telling also because if they play like that next week, they will lose and we all know that! To struggle against the better teams like the Giants or the Bills (teams that should be a lot better then their record but aren't for whatever reason is one thing.)

The Cowboys are a disaster and that may be mainly because of injuries but their not on the Jets level this year. They allowed a four string QB to come in and move the ball and score twice on them. They had four int's and still only won by three points. You think the Pats, Chiefs, Steelers or even the Broncos or Bengals will give up the ball four times? NO they won't! This is December football, last quarter of the season before the playoffs start and teams have to be rounding the final touches on the teams now. Playing their best football and building that momentum for January football. If the Jets are going to play this way against the Pats or even the Bills over the next two weeks, they will be watching the games in January at home with all the rest of us fans because they won't be playing in them.

BTW- IMO, I don't think you can use the Pats as a good example of people over looking close wins to lesser teams over the years because look at what they've accomplished. 4 SBs, 2 loss SBs, like 3-4 other AFC championship games they played in and 9 Division titles over a ten year span. So they've earned that right to get the benefit of the doubt, our Jets haven't.

A few takeaways from the New York Jets' 19-16 win over the Dallas Cowboys Saturday night :

1. When it came to winning time, the Jets made clutch plays, overcoming three quarters of sloppy football. They were resilient and resourceful. They made smart adjustments on the fly. They played good situational football. They received clutch contributions from bench players. Simply put, they finished. The Jets were a micro-version of the New England Patriots in the fourth quarter Saturday. Obviously, they'll have to play that way for more than 15 minutes next Sunday against the actual Patriots, who have a habit of beating the Jets with the formula they created and perfected over the years.

Todd Bowles' team hasn't reached that level yet, but the Jets are moving in the right direction, based on how they’ve played during this four-game winning streak. They’re learning how to win close games, a necessary trait in December and January.“We were poised and we learned from our mistakes in the past,” Bowles said. “We grew as a team. We didn’t blow the game like we did (against) Buffalo. We didn’t blow it like we did in New England. We continued what we learned from the Giants, and we came out and played a good second half.”

2. The biggest oddity of the fourth-quarter comeback: The Jets didn't use a single timeout in the second half. As we've seen in previous games, most notably the first meeting against the Patriots, Bowles doesn't mind holding on to his timeouts. He didn't stop the clock before the two-minute warning, letting the Cowboys run off 40 seconds before the game-tying field goal. Bowles' strategy worked to perfection, but it's still unusual for a coach to leave a game with three unused timeouts.

3. The Jets really struggled to run the ball, averaging only 2.8 yards per carry on 26 attempts. The Cowboys aren't a load-the-box team, but they created problems with their quickness upfront. They had six tackles behind the line and six quarterback hits. The Jets tend to have problems with quick, 4-3 fronts, and they close out the season with a couple of 4-3 teams, the Patriots and Buffalo Bills.

4. The lack of a receiving threat at tight end was glaring against the Cowboys' two-deep zone, which did a good job of limiting big plays to Brandon Marshall and Eric Decker. The downside to a two-deep is the vulnerability in the middle of the field, leaving open space for a pass-catching tight end. The Jets don't have that guy. Basically, Quincy Enunwa is the Jets' version of a tight end, and they started going to him in the second half. Keep an eye on Enunwa; he's gaining confidence and could be a factor in the final two games.

5. Interestingly, Bilal Powell -- not Chris Ivory -- got the ball on the final three plays as the Jets positioned themselves to set up the game-winning field goal. Ivory has fumbled three times this season, losing two. Was that a factor? Perhaps. A back injury to tight end Kellen Davis also may have forced them to go with a different personnel package.

6. Rontez Miles was a beast on special teams; he had three solo tackles.

7. The Jets were outgained 133-73 on the ground. Not good at all.

8. Backup middle linebacker Erin Henderson was a terrific free-agent addition. How many teams could lose their starting "Mike" linebacker (David Harris) and insert a seven-year veteran with 33 games of starting experience? "It's not easy to step in for a player like Dave, the leader of our defense, somebody who calls the signals and calls the plays, week in, week out," Henderson said after the game. "You never know how the other guys are going to respond when they see a guy like that go down. My job is to make everybody feel comfortable. They know I'm more than capable of getting the job done." Harris missed the final three quarters with a lower-back contusion, according to the Jets. Bowles didn't give a prognosis.

9. Judging from his body language, Antonio Cromartie doesn't seem particularly thrilled returning kickoffs. He runs like he's afraid to get hurt.

10. Dee Milliner, relegated to a special-teams-only role, left with a hamstring injury. In other news, Donald Trump has a big mouth.

Watched the replay on Gamepass today

Two things I found annoying about former Texas golfer in college Nantz and Simms blathering

1. The "horsecollar" horsesh*t call

Nantz immediately declares it a horsecollar tackle and actually says "Pace actually knew it". Even after 4 replays and Mike Carey admitting his beloved refs blew it, we still don't get even a whisper of "I was wrong, I'm a Dallas homer" from Texas Jim

2. The false start...the two imbeciles watch 3 replays showing there was no foul and both stick with the call BS story that "Douzable didnt set or some nonsense to defend another hideously bad call by the incompetent part time per diem guys

Anyhow, thank God we finally have a competent professional QB capable of pulling out a win in a game like this

I liked the pick when the Jets took him, but in all honesty your right, the guy has been a waste of a roster spot.

In all fairness though, I can't personally blame him, I'm sure it wasn't his plan to be made of china any more then Chad wanted those injuries so many hated him for.

i'm sorry FL, if it were me, i would feel like i was stealing money.. just because he's not "trying" to get hurt is inconsequential.. what is, is..

never said i was angry with the kid, just supremely disappointed with him..

as far as pennington, he was a baller.. milliner is just collecting game checks.. good ones, BTW!!
