remember this guy??

Boy wouldn't that be something. He was angry he didn't get the job when Rex was hired.

Think Woody has had his fill of colorful HC's for a while. The media would love it though. Guys a nut LOL But a heck of a coach

yeah, woody aint going from rex to westy..

that said, i honestly don't think it's as nuts as it might seem on the surface..

LOLz the idea, not westy..

The Jets do punt a lot and seem to prefer FG attempts to TDs, so bringing in a former special teams coach to run the team might actually make some sense.
cute..

1) westoff was arguably one of the best NFL ST coaches of all time..

2) the guy aspired to be a NFL HC well before becoming a STs genius..

Once the wedge was made illegal on kickoffs, Westoff's track record as a special teams coach was rather pedestrian.

Adam Gase or John Fox. If not one of them I'm keeping my fingers crossed for Quinn.

2 years ago, Mike McCoy had a visit to #Chargers , then one with #AZCardinals . SD never let him leave town. Jets may do the same with Bowles

Adam Gase? Doesn't the fact that Denver let him go speaks volumes that he may not be that great?

I think he's a product of Manning.

True. But I wouldn't go to say he's horrible. He's bound to have some talent. I just seem to be leaning towards the offensive coaches. We've been down the defensive coach road. Not that it didnt give us SOME success but an offensive coach wouldn't hurt us.

I think a bunch of us have been scarred by the Rex Ryan era. I loved Rex as a coach and think he brought relevance to our franchise but he had a lot of flaws, his main one being his lack of willingness to get involved on the offensive side of the ball.

During the Woody Johnson press conference earlier this month, Westhoff discussed what it was like working under Rex. He said that Rex was in all the coaches meetings (offense, defense, special teams) and knew what was going on but he didn't want to interject in these meetings. Westhoff even said that he would tell Rex -- (I'm paraphrasing here, hope my memory is right) "don't be afraid to give us your input". He never did.

Anyways, my point is that if a defensive coach is selected, I do not think he will be neglecting the offense as much as Rex did. He's an anomaly when it comes to that. Rex was able to convince the front office that he could win with a shitty offense as long as he got to run his defense. He was wrong. I do not think our management will not fall for that again so whether offensive or defensive background, let's hire the best guy!

We have had a string of defensive coaches. Keep in mind that the last OC coach we had was Rich Kotite

Out of the Guys listed I think Hue Jackson would be good...doesn't seem to be getting any looks though...would prefer an OC but with W&C helping it seems the search is very thorough
