Do we stick with Geno if we can't get Winston or Mariota?

give us an idea of what you could see happening..

Need to pick up any veteran in the league and that would be in improvement over Geno and I mean anybody, meaning a backup
Draft Bryce Petty
Open competition
Say goodby Geno

No ,some don't give him credit. I really like the kid. Makes a ton of fantastic throws but has some accuracy issues. I see tremendous upside .
Maybe second or even 3rd rounder

Petty ends career with gaudy numbers

In his final college game, Baylor quarterback Bryce Petty threw for a career-high 550 yards. He was selected offensive MVP.

It was the third 500 yard-plus passing game in program history. Nick Florence threw for 581 yards vs. West Virginia in 2012, and Petty posted 510 yards against TCU this season.

Petty extended his school record for career 300-yard passing games to 16. He also tied Robert Griffin III’s mark with four 400-yard passing games.

The Midlothian product leaves with these Baylor records: touchdown-to-interception ratio (6.20), yards per attempt (9.71), interception percentage (.0118) and total offense yards per play (8.2).

He threw touchdown passes in 25 straight games, a school record.

That's a trade I would make... well... maybe for a 4th, but I won't pin my hopes on him. So often, we watch a backup QB on our team or another team who looks really good when there is only a small sample size of his play. Then when we see him start 2, 3 or 4 games, suddenly he doesn't look as good. I hate to sound so negative, but good QB's are few and far between. That said, I'm all for taking a shot. We need to keep on drafting and trading for QB's until we hit on one.

Winston has a good chance to fall. Grab him

While I would not trade up for him, I would definitely grab him if he falls. As I mentioned earlier, I am not willing to bet the farm on him, but IMO he certainly is worth a shot if I am spending only one draft pick- even if a high a one.

If he gets past the Tirans, I would trade a third to jump the Redskins

All draft picks and trades will be determined by which HC and OC the Jets choose.
I believe both Winston and Mariota are not worthy of a top 10 pick. I look for a trade
to happen.

Forgive me if there is already a thread on this topic but I'm new here and didn't see it. My question is if the Jets aren't able to draft Winston or Mariota, do they stick with Geno? With the 6th pick both QBs will most likely be gone. I believe Cooper will also. If this will be the case, what will the Jets do then? I don't trust or want Geno anymore. IMO that week 17 performance was a once in a lifetime thing and not a indication of what he will be next year.

It was even more frustrating to see what Geno did that day because it makes you wonder what happened to doing that all year long? You wait to week 17 when it means nothing to perform like this! Geno has all the tools to be a very good to great QB but does he have it upstairs? Is he a natural born leader and is he tough enough to do it in NY-NJ and do it in a NY Jets uniform? So I ask you Jets faithful, should the Jets get another vet QB to start or draft a QB in the second round if Winston and Mariota are gone?

Honestly most Jets fans are not want to hear this but Geno Smith will most likely will be on the roster next year whether he's a backup or a possible starter going into the 2015 season. Jets can sign a veteran like Matt Moore, Brian Hoyer, Ryan Mallett, etc. They can also go into the draft and take a chance by drafting either Bryce Petty, Garrett Grayson, or Brett Hundley. They can also draft a quarterback in the later rounds such as Bo Wallace, Trevone Boykin, Rakeem Cato, etc

Either way I feel that the Jets should look into bringing in competition for Smith, but this time around the Jets should not give him 80% of the snaps!! Right now the Jets have Smith and Matt Simms signed to a future contract going into the 2015. In my opinion, I feel the Jets should draft a QB as well as look for a veteran if their is one worth bringing in. But this time around make him or whoever the QB or QBs he's competing against earn the starting reps.

Unfortunately, I have to agree with what your saying. Because of the last three pointless wins, that put us in this position now. High draft pick but not high enough for Winston, Mariota and probably Cooper. So it definitely appears it will go the way your predicting.

Can the Jets just try something new? Kubiak or Pep as HC...A talent evaluator as GM then go from there

Petty is a very intriguing prospect. His numbers are through the roof.

One major problem with him. He is from a one read Air Raid offense. Much like Smith was. Some of these guys just never get it in the NFL. It's a major transition. The way the CBA is structured really hurts rookies, particularly rookie QB's. They can't come in during the off season and work with coaches.

It doesn't seem like much, but never having played under center, or have to read D's , kills these guys. Petty might go as far back as the 3- 4th round.

Kubiak has helped QBs to their best seasons, he was a HC before, he had a good run before injuries destroyed his teams, he is an offensive coach, just like him more than Cable...the Jets have gone rookie defensive coach since Herm, time to stop worrying about how to stop TBrady and BB and let them worry about stopping the Jets, the NFL has changed to the Greatest Show on Turf NFL as opposed to the intimidation of the Steel Curtin, Purple People Eaters, Doomsday, and Ravens defense of the past

I understand what your saying, but the way the GM search was handled last time, was beyond stupid. They went out looking for a book keeper, and that's what they got. I still like the Seattle guys. Both GM, and HC. This time they are looking for football people.
