NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reports, via sources involved in the situation, Russell Wilson is expected to become the NFL's highest-paid quarterback when the Seahawks sign him to a long-term extension in the coming offseason.

Seattle has built the NFL's deepest and most talented roster while devoting less than $1 million per year to the starting quarterback since Wilson was drafted in 2012.

Aaron Rodgers is currently atop the NFL's salary structure, with a five-year, $110 million contract averaging $22 million annually.

And the decline of the Seahawks will begin. One of the main reasons they have been able to stay successful in recent years is due to the low $ tied into the qb position. With Wilson making big bucks, they will have to make tough decisions on which of their free agents they have to keep.

Anyways, what are your thoughts on this. Does he deserve this $? Does he make players around him better?

The more money he makes the more chance we have of snagging some of their FA's when the Jets hire Quinn. :talking-to-god-smil

Unfortunately, I don't think they have too many free agents especially on defense. Hoping for some cap casualty cuts.

I don't see him as being on the top level of Rodgers, Manning, Brady, Brees (until recently). I see him as a really good QB who could probably be replaced on that team by a half dozen other guys without them losing a step. Ask yourself how that team would perform with Romo, Rivers, Eli, Ben or Matt Ryan at QB.

But all that aside, there's really no way he should settle for less than Flacco got and that's $20MM/year so good for him.

Plain and simple he wins because/without turning the ball over......
