how many consecutive high draft picks do you let a GM use on QBs before you decide enough is enough??

I had the same reaction. It just shows to me that Mac has no idea what he's doing. He's just selecting a QB each year.
Did I just sleep through the months of February, March and April and the draft has come and gone? Who did we get in the rest of the draft? What about free agency? In all seriousness, I hope we aren't putting too much stock in leaks from agents.

I don't trust anything right now from the media. Although I'm not a fan of drafting any of the QB's at #6, I do understand the need to fix this position by any means necessary. If Brady does in fact sign for another 3 years, we are screwed without an emerging QB.
Every young QB, with some very specific exceptions, is a project. I'm not going to bother listing all the high first round busts at the position in recent times.
Umm, you are aware that Mac is on record saying that he is likely to do just that, i.e. that he learned the Ron Wolf philosophy that you draft a QB every year - not always high, of course, but somewhere in the draft each year you should take a QB. Do you think Ron Wolf knew what he was doing?
What does that even mean? So far it is one year in a row using a high draft pick on a QB.
And would you rather have a GM that does not do his due diligence on all of the best players in the draft? Why would doing extensive work on Watson be a negative in any way or suggest that they have given up on Hack? You know that Mac is a BPA guy (as he should be, imho), so if Watson is there at 6 and the Jets have him rated as the BPA at that time, they will take him - or trade down.

what it means to me, is if you're going to draft a QB in 2nd & 1st two years consecutively, a GM better be right on one of them..
for instance, if neither kid were to distinguish themselves next season, you're OK with trusting maccagnan drafting another QB in the 1st in '18, if he's once again the BPA on his board?? i wouldn't be..

We are in the fake news portion of the year. How many guys did we do serious resection on last year that we didn't draft. No news that is speculation or rumor regarding how the Jets feel about draft players, means anything. Teams will be doing secret research beyond the typical interviews that you will never know about, and they will over pursue prospects that could motivate other teams to trade with them. This is the bluff portion of the card game.
If they truly like either of these QB's, take them. Until you have the guy,you have nothing. If hack comes on strong, great, then we have options. We can then start leaking info about how great hack is learning and entertain trade offers like the bucs did with glennon.

If the situation was reversed and mack had zero interest in drafting any qb, the stories and posts would all be about how stubborn mac is and can't admit his mistake. Can't have it both ways, I expect a gm to keep his options open and do his due diligence.

Always willing to take a shot on a QB. You never know. Unlike Hack at least Watson has a bunch of supporters willing to call him a high draft pick. Hack sort of came out of left field..

i completely agree a franchise needs to keep looking for their QB.. that said, who would try to argue that point with a straight face??
my thing (& apparently the NFL's) is you don't let the same GM continue to burn high draft picks trying to find one..
safe bet, maccagnan knows that as well.....
