Don’t know if this got mentioned already, but Conklin recently said a big reason he signed with the Jets was Zach Wilson. Apparently the Vikings really wanted Conklin back and expressed that to him.
I’m sure the money was a big factor, too. But still a nice thing to see an established player like Conklin show a vote of confidence in our young QB.
Jets signed him to a 3 year 21 M contract
Vikings offered him a 3 year 30 M contract
it was not about the money but playing for Ron Middleton!
Awesome. The culture is starting to change. Players coming here because they want to not because some dumb ass GM is throwing stupid amounts of money at them.
I bet a bigger factor was to get the hell away from Kirk Cousins.
So Conklin turned down a bigger contract from the hometown team, with a QB in Cousins who threw for 4,221 yards, 33 TD’s to 7 INT’s, and a QBR of 52.3 to play with Zach Wilson.
I think that says something about Wilson’s emerging reputation and potential around the league. How can it not?
Cousins makes enemies of his own teammates.
Conklin said to join Robert Saleh, Ron Middleton & Zach was more desirable than reupping with Minny.
