I finally watched the second preseason game against the Steelers. Well, I watched the first half at least and Klubnik played pretty well. IMHO, under the circumstances anyway! The first preseason game, he was running with the starters and they scored on both drives.
Against the Steelers, it appeared he was playing with all backups, and he had no help with the running game. Also the offensive line was horrid. Whenever he did get a chance to see the field, he was hitting on his targets, and his decisions were quick and indecisive. He didn’t seem like he was lost out there and he didn’t have the happy feet.
Even though he was under duress most of the time he was playing, he hung in there and managed to control the ball and the offense. He didn’t turn it over most importantly and he completed a few tuff ass passes. No I’m not saying he should be starting over Geno!
From what I’m hearing and reading from training camp and that first-only drive in the Steelers game, he has proved he should be the starter but he does have a very reliable back up. Question is can Klubnik be more than just a reliable back up? Aaron Glenn job may depend on this, to be honest. IMHO anyway!
If Geno manages to stay healthy, along with the team and the Jets make the playoffs or are right there on the bubble, then I’m guessing AG’s job is safe. If that’s not the case, then Klubnik better show he’s our future. No matter what the Jets record is or AG will be looking for a new job next year.
