Now that the salary cap has been set at a whopping $155.27 million for 2016, the franchise and transition tags for the coming league year can be calculated. Fortunately, someone better at calculating things than me has done the calculating.

The franchise and transition tag numbers for each position appear below.

The first number is the nonexclusive franchise tag; the second is the transition tag:

Quarterback: $19.953 million/$17.696 million.

Running back: $11.789 million/$9.647 million.
Receiver: $14.599 million/$12.268 million.

Tight end: $9.118 million/$7.713 million.

Offensive line: $13.706 million/$11.902 million.

Defensive end: $15.701 million/$12.734 million.

Defensive tackle: $13.615 million/$10.875 million.

Linebacker: $14.129 million/$11.925 million.

Cornerback: $13.952 million/$11.913 million.

Safety: $10.806 million/$9.116 million.

Kicker/punter: $4.572 million/$4.123 million.

Interesting idea by Joe Caporoso from Turn on the Jets. Mo doesn't want a JJ Watt deal he wants more..

Wilkerson is coming off a broken leg and is asking for north of JJ Watt money if all reports are accurate. Tag, then trade him. Use the assets to continue to build your team. Why the Jaguars? They have the required cap space to trade for Wilkerson and pay him the contract he wants, they have a need on their defensive line, and they have two picks high enough that allows the Jets to continue rebuilding their roster. The rest of the article is here..

Giants, Chargers, Eagles, Redskins are among those teams said to be interested...

I say this any team willing to give a top end pick this year along with a conditional pick next year and is willing to negotiate a deal prior to the trade (long term) anyone is acceptable and let the bidding war begin... Mo is expected to make a full recovery, is he worth JJ Watt money, no but he is close to that and does deserve to get paid... Would love to keep him in a perfect world but it may be time to get compensation to continue to build out this roster... Any team outside in division rivals is worthy to make a deal for him... If said division rival offers the kitchen sink then yes go for it otherwise try to keep him outside the division and maybe outside the conference...

I always thought the Jaguars were the Jets best chance to trade Muhammad Wilkerson.( get the most back).

This draft is loaded on the defense line , and if you are the Jaguars you can double down on this position in the first two rounds. Going to be interesting if that defense line depth plays a role if the Jets can get what they want for Wilkerson.
