2018 NFL Draft order and team needs

I would rather sign a FA QB and use our pick to trade down.

We need to sign a free agency QB no matter what. We don't have a starter if we don't and while it's possible that a QB from this years draft could step in and assume that role I have real doubts about that happening. However; I don't really want to trade down. I'd use the #6 pick to add a top rated play maker to the team. I'm a country boy and up here on the mountain we believe that the cream is usually at the top. Trading down would get us more picks, I agree, but more of what, mediocre or projects. I'm not saying there aren't some good players lower in the draft but if I have the opportunity to get a difference maker, that's the route I'd go.

Very true but we have more than one pick to work with right now and the player trading hasn't even begun yet. I would never knowingly pass a reasonably certain star to get 3 possible bust players. Trading down for me is what you do when your starting lineup is set with no holes or needs to be filled with a skilled player and you are trying to create depth. I may be all wet in my thinking but then I'm ex navy.
