Emeka Emezie Scouting Report

Emeka has a thick, muscular frame and he embraces the physical components of the position. He brings the fight as a route runner, blocker, runner and at the catch point. He has an aggressive point of attack on catch point. He is competitive in contested situations and he assertively gets himself in positions to win. He plays each reception opportunity with the "my ball" mentality and secures the football outside his fram while making good adjustments.

He excels in route running and makes proper adjustments on the fly to find space and sit in zones. He is decisive and powerful as a runner after catch and it takes a honest effor to get him on the ground. He can gets yards after catch contact and his stiff arm is outstanding. He flashes ability to angle his releases and best press coverage with active hand usage. He led the Wolfpack in receiving in both 2019 and 2020.

Areas for Improvement

Emeka isn't the most explosive nor dynamic receiver. He is a modest separator at the college level and there are often plenty of crowded catch points for him to deal with. He has to be more crisp on his route ends to gain more separation. He at times has those focused drops. He almost exclusively aligned to the left side of the offense formation and rarely in the slot.

Emeka Emezie Career at NC State

Emeka in his freshman year worked his way into the rotation at wide receiver, and the coaching staff was awarded as he had five catches for 69 yards, including an acrobatic touchdown reception at Wake Forest. He earned the team's Phillip Rivers Freshman of the Year award. As a sophomore he started 12 of 13 games and ranked third on the team in receptions. He pulled down a career high seven catches in the win at Louisville. He followed that with 90 yards vs. Virginia. He continued to succeed with a touchdown reception long of 67 yards vs. Syracuse. He was the recipient of hte Mike Hardy Award, givn to the Wolfpack player who best exhibits a winning attitude.

In 2019, Emeka ranked 13th all time with 56 catches on the season. He pulled down a career high 12 catches vs. West Virginia that tied as the seventh highest reception total in school history. He also recorded his first 100 yard game against the Mountaineers. Then in 2020, he received an honorable mention All-ACC choice. and also earned team's Torry Holt Awar for Most Valuable Offensive Player. Was the leading receiver for the second straight season finishing with 47 catches and a team best 738 yards.

Emeka Emezie NFL Draft Player Profile

Emezie made waves as early as 2018 when Jakobi Meyers and Kelvin Harmon were the star upperclassmen receivers, and he was just a sophomore. That year, he caught 56 passes for 616 yards including six touchdowns. After quarterback Ryan Finley's graduation, Emezie's production essentially screeched to a halt. Emezie worked the sideline back-shoulder game outstandingly all afternoon against Pittsburgh. At 6-3 and a chiseled 220 pounds, Emezie has the body to win that on the perimeter in the NFL, and he's long been very good with coverage draped on him.
