Devon Williams Scouting ReportDevon takes advantage of seams when his quarterback is on target. He goes up high for jump balls. He has good flexibility and reach to snatch back shoulder throws. He has enough upper body strength and tenacity to be very effective as a downfield blocker. He is not shy about taking on his man, providing some pop and will open a running lane for his backs at the next level. Devon has long arms to stiff arm defensive backs in the open field. He is willing to lower his pads to run through tackles for extra yardage. He goes over the middle, can spin out of tackles and take the big hit. He is quicker than fast and lacks elite wheels to simply blow by defenders. He has good football speed. He has very good size and strength. He is a longstride with deceptive speed. Devon has very soft, natural hands to clearly catch away from his frame. He has excellent concentration. He has the lateral agility and strength to get into and out of routes smoothly.

Areas for ImprovementWilliams lacks foot quickness to separate and could be more physical. He has yet to get the maximum potential out of his natural athletic ability. His hands are good, not great. He will drop some easy balls and sometimes will body catch. He occasionally fails to high point. He does not always use his hands to secure deep throws.

Devon Williams Career at OregonDevon Williams was the top ranked athlete in the country and seventh ranked overall prospect in California by Rivals. He was sixth in the nation at wide receiver, sixth overall in California by 247Sports. He played in the 2018 Polynesian Bowl. He caught 71 passes for 1,157 yards and 13 touchdowns as a senior. As a freshman at USC in 2018, Devon played in all 12 games at Southern California. He registered four receptions for 87 yards with a touchdown. He also returned a blocked punt for a touchdown. In 2019, utilized a redshirt and transferred to Oregon in the fall. He played in one game at Southern California and had an 11 yard catch against Stanford. Devon led the team with 286 receiving yards to rank 10 in the Pac 12 in 2020. He was second in the Pac 12 with 19.1 yards per catch. He finished with 15 receptions and two touchdowns. Devon was one of two Pac 12 players with 100 yards and a touchdown in two consecutive games. Williams had a breakout redshirt junior campaign. He registerd 35 receptions for 557 yards and four touchdowns. He recorded one 100 yard game against Oregon State. |
Devon Williams NFL Draft Player ProfileThe former USC receiver and blue-chip recruit transferred to Oregon after playing just five games through two seasons with the Trojans. In his first season with the Ducks, he played in five games and led Oregon with 15 catches for 286 yards and a couple of touchdowns. He had just five catches for 98 yards and a score in his first two collegiate seasons. Williams, on the other hand, is a 6-5, 205-pound monster target with strong hands and big-play abilities. NFL teams will be drawn to his size and athleticism and ability to make plays.
