Luke Price Scouting Report

Luke Price started his Clemson career as a walk on, linebacker. After a couple injuries and his diversity during his high school career he was asked to convert to tight end. Price plays with an aggressive mean streak. He is a good communicator with his offensive linemen and making sure his team mates are all on the same page prior to the snap.

Luke is more of an inline blocker, who seen time as a lead blocker in the backfield lining up as a fullback. He is tough and physical at the point of attack. He has a high football IQ. He is a capable receiver but is hardly used in that way. He has good size, length to be more versatile at the next level. He is raw but the potential to add more functional strength.

Price is an instinctive player. He is well respected for his work ethic earning acknowledgment from coaches and his team mates. He has the unique advantage at the tight end position because he developed a meanness and determination that offensive players seldom possess. Luke’s strongest attribute on the field is his ability to communicate with the offensive line, running back and quarterback.

Luke Price Areas for Improvement

Luke lacks the experience. He is a raw prospect. He needs to improve his route stem. He also has to improve his run after the catch ability. He has solid change of direction, but needs to be more crisp in his cuts. He needs to improve his vision, to see the gaps that may be vulnerable to rushers. He is a smart player but will need to understand his position better to be elite not just average.

Luke Price Career at Clemson

Prior to signing with Clemson Tigers, Luke lettered at Dillon Christian School. As a true freshman, he redshirted. In 2018, Price played on special teams in three games. He made his debut vs. Duke. In 2019, Luke posted four catches for 41 yards in 203 snaps over 15 games with one start. During his redshirt junior campaign he missed the entire season after suffering a knee injury in fall camp. Entering this past season, 2021 he had one catch for seven yards for the entire season but was a big part of the rushing attack as the lead blocker at fullback.

Luke Price NFL Draft Player Profile

Luke a former linebacker converted to tight end and ultimately a lead blocker at fullback for the Clemson Tigers' rushing game. A position that is a dying breed at the NFL level, seems in the past few years it may become a feature position for several teams. Price is capable receiver but he is more of a special teams' role player that will line up and lead block for many rushers in the backfield.
